Peter Miller
I am puzzled and almost certainly showing my ignorance. I was under the impression that the Canary Islands were part of Spain. Or at least part of Europe. If that is the case, why do things have to go through customs?
Pete B
They're not part of the EU, Peter, so anything going in from anywhere in the world will be subject to Customs examination, so far as I can make out. Pete
John Parker 1
Thanks to all for your comments and advice (especially Alan) As Pete has said, the Canary Islands are not part of the EU for customs purposes, although they are for other things by association with Spain. This is actually an advantage as we can get things sent over with zero VAT. Pilot Error: Thanks for the shop and ship idea. I will look into it.
