Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
I know this has probably been asked a 1000 times already, but how do you bend 8swg? I do have a wire bender but it certainly wont touch this stuff and I can't progress with my T31M by P Miller untill I have sorted out these wing mountings. Is it a case of engineers vice, a metal bar and brute force or is there a simpler way?
Alan Cantwell
if its a one off, vice, hide mallet, some hard wood blocks, and a pattern to work from, if you are going to do this quite often, then the mighty wire bender, from K&S, i have the slec one, but i dont think its available now
Erfolg
Hmm, 8 swg is not that heavy, I would expect any reasonable wire bender to do the job as Alan has suggested. I have bent 6 swg in the past, just a little heavier, more difficult, but doable. Edited By Erfolg on 30/09/2012 16:56:
Broken Prop
Hi Dylan I have one of these: **LINK** It will bend 8 SWG without any trouble. The guy makes them to order. Pete
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
That's exactly what I use - and it was one of the best tool investments I ever made! It turns what is always a difficult job into an absolute pleasure. Dead easy, very acurrate. Believe me you'll get your money's worth back in no time from less wasted wire and a much lower blood pressure! BEB
Broken Prop
I agree with BEB, especially about the blood pressure!
Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Thanks guys, looks a nice bit of kit, may have to look into getting one of those, although it will have to join the long list lol Ah well, put the T31M down and pick up the Stampe again
