bouncebounce crunch
lot of bananas for the basic structure, I think the manufacturers are as lost as the new flyers. That price is not for, first, second, or a third model, so where does it fit? competition? this one is for the birds, the extra setup will be really cheep cheep cheep. bouncebounce crunch
When they came up with a price, Balaclavas must have been in the mix. robbers.

RGPuk
Thanks to Rich at T9 HobbySport, I now have hands on a Mystique. Very nice it is too. Beautifully finished and certainly worth every penny for those it suits. Ro.

Steve Houghton 1
David - Have you been flying off the slope as well as the flat field? Steve A470Soaring.blogspot.com
bouncebounce crunch
David I will be happy to say I am sorry for my first reaction but that is truly a lot of weekend modeler dollars, pounds or canastas for this machine.
Wizzo
Been flyong mine for a month now- fine on 3C, Ballistic on 4c. Glides well, thermals beutifully, and is actually a fun aeroatic model when there's no lift about. You get what you pay for...
Greybeard
I've been assembling a Mystique today and struggling to install the aileron pushrods using the method described in the manual; in fact I eventually ditched the manufacturer’s method and made new push rods with a double-set in them and a “Z” connection at the servo end. After doing that, and having another look (and curse) at the manual I see that the illustration may show a bent rod rather than the straight one described. Has anyone else come across this problem and if so how did you get over it?
David Ashby - Moderator
I had the same trouble GB, it's an oft reported fault now, they even admitted such on the HH podcast. Yes, as you say, a slightly bent rod will do it - some also enlarge the pushrod exit hole too. I did both. I'm still enjoying mine, it's a fine machine. Greybeard
Thanks for that David, I had begun to think it was me - it usually is. I've not built many ARTF models and have not quite got use to the "adjustments" that have to be made.
Mickster
I'm looking for a bit of reasurance! I've just finished my Mystique and test flew it last weekend. Great model! I'm using 4 Hitec analogue servos in the wing, Eflite 25 motor with a 60amp SC giving a 5.5volt,4amp BEC. DX8 with AR8000, 3000-3S Lipo. ( soon to change to Futaba) After reading David's article I saw that a seperate receiver lipo was used. I'd just like to know if I'm ok with my present set up or should I too have a seperate receiver power supply. As you can probably guess, when it comes to the finer points electric flight I'm a bit "Mystified" Thanks Mike
David Ashby - Moderator
Hi Mike, Is that a linear BEC on the ESC? You're probably fine, it's just me playing safe really and I doubt the servos pull much current. I've a little meter that meaures in-flight servo current draw so I'll pop it in the model and see what it's saying next time out. Great model, glad you like yours. Mickster
Hi David, Many thanks for your help with my concerns, I'm using a Hobbyking Blue series 60amp Sbec Esc. Unfortunately I can't find an answer as to whether its linear or not. I would be happy to connect a dedicated power supply to the receiver. If I did so would that mean I would have to cut the red wire from the esc. to the receiver? I've now flown my Mystique another three times despite the weather! Love it! Thanks again Mike. Steve Houghton 1
I've just received the Easter newsletter from Stan Yeo of Pheonix Models who comments on the Mystique as follows: In the last few months we have assembled and flown the E-Flite Mystique. I liked the look of it and needed a full house electric thermal model so I bought one. I am afraid I have not been impressed best summed up as over-priced, over-weight, structurally weak (one wing folded and controls fluttered at modest speed). Poor value for money. Sorry horizon! David Ashby - Moderator
Yes, I too found flutter at speed and mentioned in the review. I do like Stan's newsletters, they're a great way of building a community, a few other shops could take a leaf out of his book. Muttley
Came across this thread as I'm looking for a first thermal hunter. Can't quite make my mind up on the mystique but I do like the look of the Aeronaut Xenon in the link posted by Lee. Does anyone have any experience of this, cant find any reviews or even comments despite the manufacturers claim that it is a popular choice for competitions. I guess it would be less versatile than the mystique and maybe a bit more specialised but just guessing is not a great way to decide where to spend my beer vouchers. Greybeard
My experience so far with the Mystique is less than good although others seem to like it, there has been some discussion on the BARCS forum that may be of help.
Muttley
Thanks, perhaps they should have called it the Eflite Marmite, seems to be a case of love it or hate it. So another point to the Xenon, but only by default, just wish I could find some info on it.
