I've been assembling a Mystique today and struggling to install the aileron pushrods using the method described in the manual; in fact I eventually ditched the manufacturer’s method and made new push rods with a double-set in them and a “Z” connection at the servo end. After doing that, and having another look (and curse) at the manual I see that the illustration may show a bent rod rather than the straight one described.

Has anyone else come across this problem and if so how did you get over it?

I'm looking for a bit of reasurance! I've just finished my Mystique and test flew it last weekend. Great model!

I'm using 4 Hitec analogue servos in the wing, Eflite 25 motor with a 60amp SC giving a 5.5volt,4amp BEC. DX8 with AR8000, 3000-3S Lipo. ( soon to change to Futaba)

After reading David's article I saw that a seperate receiver lipo was used.

I'd just like to know if I'm ok with my present set up or should I too have a seperate receiver power supply.

As you can probably guess, when it comes to the finer points electric flight I'm a bit "Mystified"

Thanks Mike

Hi David,

Many thanks for your help with my concerns,

I'm using a Hobbyking Blue series 60amp Sbec Esc. Unfortunately I can't find an answer as to whether its linear or not.

I would be happy to connect a dedicated power supply to the receiver. If I did so would that mean I would have to cut the red wire from the esc. to the receiver?

I've now flown my Mystique another three times despite the weather! Love it!

Thanks again

Mike.

I've just received the Easter newsletter from Stan Yeo of Pheonix Models who comments on the Mystique as follows:

In the last few months we have assembled and flown the E-Flite Mystique. I liked the look of it and needed a full house electric thermal model so I bought one. I am afraid I have not been impressed best summed up as over-priced, over-weight, structurally weak (one wing folded and controls fluttered at modest speed). Poor value for money. Sorry horizon!

Came across this thread as I'm looking for a first thermal hunter.

Can't quite make my mind up on the mystique but I do like the look of the Aeronaut Xenon in the link posted by Lee.

Does anyone have any experience of this, cant find any reviews or even comments despite the manufacturers claim that it is a popular choice for competitions. I guess it would be less versatile than the mystique and maybe a bit more specialised but just guessing is not a great way to decide where to spend my beer vouchers.
