Adrian Smith 1
Back in February this year I purchased from Puffin Models a MVVS 50 IRS with ICU-L ignition which I thought reasonably priced at 379.95 stg for a gasser. However, I noticed that now, 3 months later, it's selling at the princely sum of 439.95 stg, a near 14% increase! Well I know the pound has depreciated vs. the euro by 6% since the start of the year, but sometimes I think suppliers/importers are having a laugh on us. I know a couple of years ago, even though I wasn't in the market at that specific time for any OS engines, but I found if I bought one for a future unknown project I noticed that within 2-3 months the price would be 40-60 pounds higher! Any experiences like that?
Chris Channon
Hi Adrian, Yep, i was going to buy a Shuttle Heli from a store that advertises in the mag, one month it was £ 149.99, the next month it was £ 188.00, so how has something that was already in the shop cost more to sell? Regards Chris.
Dave Bran
Posted by Chris Channon on 02/06/2013 18:44:06: Hi Adrian, Yep, i was going to buy a Shuttle Heli from a store that advertises in the mag, one month it was £ 149.99, the next month it was £ 188.00, so how has something that was already in the shop cost more to sell? Alan Randall
I guess that the lead time for inserting an add in a mag leaves plenty of time for the price to rise on new stock from their suppliers.
Jonnor
What gets me about petrol engines is that you can buy a petrol engined strimmer -- generally about 30/40c.c or a similarly powered leaf blower for less than 200 quid. The makers could easily do such a motor with mounts and a prop driver instead.. As with most specialist hobbies we're easy meat.

Allan Bowker
Adrian It's not uncommon for retailers to raise prices with market inflation, it offsets the costs on other lines that are making a loss or are slow sellers. My LMS often has lower prices on new items which creep up quite quickly weeks later, perhaps due to distributers 'early bird' deals?
