Hi Tony,

I have been following your superb build closely as I'm in the process of drawing up a 1/4 scale Auster Aiglet. The fuselage structure will be as close to scale like yours and I would like to ask if you have any ideas on the upper cabane / wing mounting points yet?

I had planned on using 5 and 6mm pine dowel for the longerons and high stress areas. Also I intend to be reinforcing the wing mounting points with control line stranded wire wrapped around the wing fixings and down through the verticals to the lower fuselage and undercarriage cross braces.

Any thought will be gratefully recieved

Adrian

well at the mo my mind is still mulling over the details of the upper cabane mounts.

at the mo i have 5mm piano wire running across the fuselage in 2 places and sliding into brass tubes that will be fitted in the wings, roughly on the spars.

then i will be using 3mm piano wire as the cross braces, if it will work is another issue that will be faced when i get round to it.

the fuselage strut mounts will be piano wire going right across the fuselage under the floor with hooks soldered to the ends.

Thank you for the speedy response. I will be looking at small fittings at the lower strut fixing so to bolt the struts in position and have them take the flight loads. The Austers are very much under- modelled, and I now appreciate why with all the glazing to show the internals. Good luck with your build
