BernieNUFC
Hi I have this happeneing below to my ESC which apparently is correct, "If the speed control signal from receiver is NOT present this tone signal (♪ is repeated 10 times and then stops for some seconds (about 6 seconds) and starts over again" I need to be able to connect the battery to the esc without the receiver having power (it is not being used for a throttle), i have looked at the programming chart but there is no mention of it. Does anyone know if i can do this? cheers
Wingman
Well you can remove the middle pin from the ESC receiver connector and that will allow you to connect the receiver to the ESC without powering the receiver - I presume you're using a separate receiver supply?. You say you're not using the throttle channel but you still need to send a high and low throttle signal to the ESC in order to arm it. (I use ch5 on my glider to switch the motor on and off)
BernieNUFC
Thank you for reply Basically i used the throttle to configure it then moved it to aux2 set for trainer button (only non fixed switch). I will use it for a remote starter, but i need to connect it up before fitting the wing, so once connected i can fit wing and wait to fly, but currently it keeps making the tone when reciever is tunred off until i am ready to fly then it works as it should. Chris Bott - Moderator
Why not turn the radio on to while you fit the wing Bernie?
BernieNUFC
It takes quite a while to build the biplane up at the field, but even then once built i would want it sat in readiness to fly which could be for half an hour, at which point this tone would be going all the time cheers
BernieNUFC
it is an esc that does not supply power to the receiver
Pete B
I might be getting the wrong end of the stick as I'm not sure what you are trying to do but would fitting a safety arming switch on the + between the pack and ESC help? That way you could assemble the model with the battery pack connected but not live, then arm it when you wish..... Pete
BernieNUFC
Hi Pete It looks like this is the way to go, i have not seen one of these switches so i will google it now, thank you

Pete B
That's pretty neat, Bernie - now you can do the same as I do with my leccy motors.... Pete
