Colin Leighfield
It's very haunting when you see great musicians like these that you still think of as young because it doesn't seem so long ago that they were, like a number of us. It's hard to believe that it's 34 years since John Lennon was murdered, there certainly was something formative about those years and the music they all made is absolutely still with us. My son and daughter are great Beatles fans yet were both born many years after they broke up. A few months ago we went to see Glen Campbell on his last tour, his early stage Alzheimers is obvious and yet his music is as good as ever, increasingly sad when you know that there's little light at the end of the tunnel. I keep on kidding myself that I still feel young, but the truth is always something else. Saw Don MacLean shortly afterwards, in both cases about thirty years since I'd seen them before. Still, we've got tickets to see Chris Rea next month and then Michael Buble in December. He's comparatively new, but what a talent. One of the very few that could be a really long lasting super-star. Fortunately, life goes on, at some stage it leaves us all behind.
