Dai Fledermaus
Aldi have a Multi Purpose Support in stock on Sunday 27th for £17.99, which with a bit of modification makes a passible field stand. Heavy enough and a handy working height particularly if like me your knees are creaking a bit.
Martyn K
That looks great, I assume that the model, TX and Fuel are not included, I guess that the cradle is also not included? What have you modified? M
extra slim
Hi Dai, we've got about 6 of them at our club, I'll take some pics, but like you they have been modified by our leader, and are excellent. Well worth it
Dai Fledermaus
I just removed the top cross bar - it unbolts, turned the adjustable uprights at right angles and bolted on the two home made MDF cradles, using the same bolts, with some 15 mm pipe lagging. the MDF shelf just sits between the cradles. A quick coat of Hammerite to finish.
Martyn K
Thanks, I'll take a look, but at that price I may get two - one for the workshop as well M

Dai Fledermaus
Thanks for the photo extra slim, that's a very professional looking adaption. As someone who has  a woodworking background, I was looking to see what I could knock up using a jig saw and a router.
extra slim
Dai, yours is equally as professional. I thought wow, good on you, ken at our club will be very pleased, as he had the same fore thought as you, and he isn't so well currently so I'll show him when I visit him in hospital, will put a smile on his face for sure. Thx

kevin b
I can see queues forming outside Aldi on Saturday night. They look ideal for support stands to use in our sprayshop at work and about a tenth of the price the paint suppliers charge for them ! kevinb
GONZO
Well, took myself off to Aldi first thing this morning and got the stand. Trouble is I got tempted with the compressor and bits. Warning, warning, impulse buy alert! Anyone got one and can say what they are like? Hope I've not bought a lemon which is the usual result of impulse buying.
