  1. Personally I would stick a shim under trailing edge of top wing. Most bipes I have had have less incidence on the top wing.. few ultimates were neutral, a couple, 1 degree negative on top wing. All flew well.. and take out some of your added down thrust. Or else that will mask the effect of the wing incidence adjustment
  2. Thankyou for posting so regularly leccy, I very much enjoy looking out for your posts, although somewhat jealous of how often you get out.. just thought I would say thanks
  3. Has anyone seen the list of trade for this years Weston Park Model Show??
  4. You are not suggesting he "knobbled it" are you Geoff..??.
  5. I am told this might be a splatfire.. It was as I got it, so I carried on with what I thought it should be.. Flys well, electric.. Are you looking for an IC?. I've got so many planes, this one may be up for sale
  6. This may be of interest to a few, but about 10yrs ago, my dad bumped into a fellow modeller from another club in town. He explained, him and his son had given up the hobby and that for a nominal sum, he could have what he had left, engines, kits, airframes etc. I enjoyed refurbing the engines, and got the odd airframe airworthy again, but there was one airframe which fell into the “one day” category. It was beaten up, but was important to me, as I used to fly one when I was young and this father and son if I recall correctly used to compete in the FunFly events. The airframe in question was a Parc Amber FU2, and it came with a Parc Amber mount and Pipe (quite a thing in their day)!, (I think the father and son were close to Parc Amber, perhaps sponsored) and the original instructions plus a Super tigre 34 (of which I already have a few), and a heli version Irvine 36, as they used to fly competitively. Now most would be forgiven for mistaking the FU2 for a limbo dancer or cougar, but in its competitive days it was a real gem, so with the rough weather and no other projects coming to mind I decided to dig it out and have a go at doing it up.. Not so much an Austin Healey type restoration but more of a Peugeot 205 GTi!!. The wings were completely dry and had a few repairs and so were deemed non viable, so templates were made and new wing was constructed, using depron for ribs. The tail feathers were a similar situation but provided great templates for me to make new ones. The fus was covered in a thin bandage as most were, and over the 35 odd years had become like paper so peeled off easily, however, underneath there was quite a bit of staining, although very very dry, so I refurbed the fus, and decided to cover in a modern lightweight Tex in what I had spare, with the wings covered in HK film. I am pleased to have got this back to flying condition complete with mount and pipe, and for those that know, they will surely raise a smile when seeing the FU2 complete with the full Parc Amber set up. I look forward to some fun with this funfly from yester year!
  7. I knew a fella, who launched very steeply to gain height, and programmed a throttle to elevator mix, ( i know there is no throttle but he was making use of the stick)so that they could use the throttle stick to give down ele to stop it looping back at him, and was adjustable as to how much down ele by where he set the throttle stick, and then once at the top of its launch, pulls the throttle stick back for level flight... he was rather good at it.
  8. Probably a spot of the claret on a couple of mine... re covering.. Get a box of 100 single edge derby razor blades... infinitely better and cheaper than scalpel blades. like these https://www.onbuy.com/gb/p/derby-professional-single-edge-razor-blades-100-count~p4727263/?bidnamic_id=CjwKCAiA74G9BhAEEiwA8kNfpak8jPSjIBmznEK2GXRpvNxKRj2qzv3cbpTJj9pW02PeENbHq9NNNRoCenQQAvD_BwE&stat=eyJpcCI6IjQuNDkiLCJkcCI6IjAuMDAiLCJsaWQiOjExNTI5NzM5NywicyI6MzAsInQiOjE3Mzg0MTY4NTQsImJtYyI6MH0=&exta=gshp&extac=health_beauty_1&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=21696413414&utm_medium=pmax&utm_content=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA74G9BhAEEiwA8kNfpak8jPSjIBmznEK2GXRpvNxKRj2qzv3cbpTJj9pW02PeENbHq9NNNRoCenQQAvD_BwE
  9. Check out the BMFA classifieds.. Capiche 50 is one of my favourites!! Capiches
  10. are you sure it isnt the 870kv version of the power 25?.. they did 2 I think.. 870kv 4s 12x6 sounds a little less amps than the 1250kv 12x6 4s
  11. A ha, seems we have found Lord Lucan!!, I’ll pass on the baby in the back seat though!!
  12. Thanks Murat. It was a new one to me. My dad had given me a box of covering and I stumbled across this stuff. On the roll it had “fibre film” written with pencil. No adhesive on the back, but very light. I used “Fast tack” PVA, only watered down like 10% I found the best. Over an open structure would be a challenge but this was actually quite relaxing to apply, leave it 2hrs, and then run over it with an iron.
  13. OK, so this was passed to me after being intercepted on its way to landfill. After failing to identify it,( it was clearly a kit, approx 41”), I had no real projects under way, so I had a bit of a head scratch and decided to see if I could make something of it, as it seemed a shame to bin and was actually a nice build. I determined it was closest to a clipped wing spit, so embarked on rounding the top deck, with depron sanded, and then 1/32nd sheet. Filled in the cut away for IC, and made hatches for electric motor and battery access. Rummaged in the garage for various bits I already had, and treated it to some decals. After a lengthy interview process Snoopy got the gig!, and prop on for flat field, prop off for slope.. What do you all reckon, does it resemble loosely a spit of a MK XVI variety? I think I will call it a “Spitish”... perhaps cartoon scale!, with a cartoon pilot! 😊
