Martin Plowright
I have a black horse travel air that has been damaged when i moved house. I need to rebuild a couple of wing spars that got crushed. Ive removed the covering but this is the problem. The covering is thicker than solar film and is also sticky. Any ideas as to what this covering is or what i can use. Many thanks
Martyn K
It sounds like self adhesive vinyl that is used on pre-decorated ARTFs. I have only had one model like this. I would use Oracover or similar applied in the normal way. M
Mike Etheridge 1
I agree with Martyn K, the sticky covering on Black Horse models once punctured appears irreparable. I recovered a repaired Super Air with Oracover.
Martin Plowright
The problem i have with oracover is the price. It will cost me 30 quid just to cover it plus the repairs i have to make when i can buy a new set of wings for 45quid. Would i get away with stripping both wings and then use solarfilm to cover the whole lot?
KingKade
Its a travel air! Not a scale work of art! Surely this is a hack, patch repair with whatever you have and make do!? I go for the 'rat look' hack! K Edited By KingKade on 04/01/2016 21:00:
john stones 1 - Moderator
Yes sticky back vinyl for patches, covering go's brittle on the sticky back stuff so seen lots of repair jobs. John
Levanter
Martin I have one too. Not yet flown and out of the box there was a small tear on the underside of the wing. Decided to cut out the affected panel plus a bit to fit a chequer pattern to aid orientation. It was tricky to get the new stuff (whatever it was as it came out of scrap box) but I managed. Not perfect by a long way but does the job. Call it a feature.
Martin Harris - Moderator
Hobbyking do film very similar to Oracover/Profilm at a fraction of the price.
