trebor
I'm no expert but some of those alloy spinners come with brass bushes to enable different shafts to fit. The thing that got me was Apc 13" props have a thinner hub centre to a 14" and I didn't have room to fit a lock nut with a 14" prop. There are differences in motor prop shaft length as well. Good luck.
gangster
The spinner diameter is mainly dependant on the diameter of the nose ring on the model. It is quite feasible that you will need to team out the hole in the spinner. You may also need to cut a little away on the spinner to accommodate the prop blades. You should be pleased with the engine I flew a new SC70 fs in a new acrowot that had its maiden flight yesterday the engine performed perfectly and the plane was a dream Don't let the engine snobs tell you you should have bought an engine at twice the price I have never had an SC that was anything short of perfect I have had a few as well of all types and sizes
Martin Ulyatt
So shall i get a 5/16 spinner and see how it fits ?
Jon H
Hi Martin To keep things simple get one of the Irvine brand spinners. They have a metal backplate with a plastic cone that screws on the front. The worst you might have to do is drill the hole in the backplate to 5/16 of an inch and trim the plastic cone with a knife so it clears the blades. As gangster rightly says the spinner diameter will be dictated by the cowling of your model so check the instructions or just measure the cowl. Denis Watkins
Take a look at the aluminium spinners on page 4 and 5 of IC spinners on model accessories.co.UK Martin. They come with ring spacers and key. Give them a ring
gangster
Martin not sure what you mean by a 5/16 spinner. The hole in the middle will need to be 5/16 to accomadate the shaft but will as likely as not be smaller than that don't worry about that just drill or ream it to fit the diameter of the backplate is the size quoted by the spinner manufacturer ie 1.5 or two inches. Choose the spinner to got th model. The motor size is irrelevant two types of spinner have been recommended but if you don't want to run to the cost of the aluminium ones the Irvine ones are very good. What model is it for? gangster
Martin. Have you looked at the RCME review of the acrowot artf. It's on the Ripmax acrowot site. Also be aware of the balance as mentioned in the review
