Gary Manuel
I would like a bit of advice on prop drilling please. I will soon need to drill a prop for my DLE111. I forgot to order a prop jig, but I already have a jig for a ZDZ50NG. Both engines are 6 holes on a 29mm diameter with a 10mm centre hole. The only difference is that the ZDZ is 4mm holes and the DLE is 5mm. I am thinking of using the ZDZ prop jig to drill 4mm holes, then without a jig, widen the holes out to 5mm. Will this be accurate enough or do I need to order a proper one?
Adrian Smith 1
In absence of a prop drilling jig Gary, I have used the engine's prop washer as a template/drilling guide which seems to work fine for me. Just make sure the prop shaft hole is reamed in the prop to the right size before you start.
Gary Manuel
Hmm that's a thought. I have the prop washer to guide the larger drill through the smaller holes. Just need to get the first one right. Thanks Adrian.
