Brian Dorricott 1
I am building The Answer (Scorpion super Scorpion) with only rudder and elevator would it benefit from using a spare Apprentice Rx given it does not have elevators ? I have read it's quite light and floaty and as a beginner would the safe/as3x help ? or learn to fly first then try it without ? Any ideas anyone
Denis Watkins
Rudder/elevator control is OK on such a craft Brian, and you will barely gain the effects of the as3x without ailerons. My advice would be to save the as3x for an aileron model, where you will get the benefit of wing levelling.
Brian Dorricott 1
Thanks Denis by the time I take the A cert ( using a Seagull Pioneer ) I may have enough skill to handle it just never flown a a rudder/elevator only plane and from what it's been said The Answer is a converted free flight model , hopefully nice and docile and responding to rudder with plenty of diahedral built in. Chris Walby
I concur that the AS3X will struggle without ailerons so will be less beneficial + I have a cub type model where the rudder (at full deflection) tends to blind one of the elevators and thus produces significant roll to the extent that its easier to fly using either elevator or rudder one at a time....unless you want a barrel roll!
