1 Squadron RAF Hurricane Mk.IIc

Recommended Posts

Well despite several all-night sessions in the workshop this week, I've not finished!

I did work until 5.30 am last night and this is the state of progress. (or just a state!).

In hindsight, I've done too much myself, including:

Making the cockpit internal framing, seat, gunsight and pilot,

Making patterns and resin casting my own cannons and exhausts

Making my own artwork and paint masks on the vinyl cutter

Designing and making my own switching circuit for the landing lights.

But, it's all been good fun. The only downside is that I'm now too exhausted to drive to Llandudno to the PSSA meeting, which is gutting.

Anyway, another week or two of work and she'll be ready for the PSS fly-in at the Hole of Horcum.

Well, after a hectic month of non-model related stuff, some more progress on the Hurricane to show. It's still not finished, but I'm nearly there.

Here are some pics showing the initial panel line details and paint scratching. I am just at the point of applying a dirty wash all over the model now and will then apply matt varnish tinted with very light grey in certain areas (the middle of panels mainly) to simulate sun fading of the paint).

You can also see the fishtail style exhaust stacks that I made myself by resin casting.
