Does anyone have piston for a MDS 148 in their bits box they are willing to dispose of ? or a smashed /crashed example with good piston etc they would sell . Please PM me if you can help . A quick check revealed that about 1 cm of the circumference of the piston above the ring is missing. Ring appears ok ? Yes still looking for a cheap c/case for a 49 . I don't know if you will want to fly the 148. I used a 148 in a 3D model flying the snot out of it for several years. Your 148 has the early carb which is known to have a poor mid range. The carb machined from bar stock with a better mid range. Ripmax gave me the new model carb on request. Once the engine was run in and the carb slow running needle was adjusted it was an extremely reliable engine. NB The slow running needle is very sensitive and needs to be adjusted in tiny steps. jeff2wings Posted April 14, 2019 Share Posted April 14, 2019 John,I think the issues with MDS carbs are legendary,so my one now sports an OPS slide carb with accelerator pump.
