Douglas Wheelhouse 1
Morning all, Can anyone tell me how to test the speed control on my dremel. Engine Doctor
When my Dremel packed up I had it repaired and shortly after it let the smoke out ! Have used the Black and Decker rotary multi tool ever since . I use them a lot and they get a hard time. On second one and won't be going back to Dremel as too expensive. Worth a look and available on line from £29_50 ish. Great little tool once the collet type chuck was swapped for conventional chuck . Denis Watkins
If there is a wiper on the coil Douglas, then set the multimeter to Ohms With the battery removed Place one probe on one end of the coil, and the other probe on the moving wiper You should get low to high resistance With the battery in place, set the multimeter to Volts On moving the wiper, you should get eg 0v up to the battery voltage Of course, an electronic speed controller is another story Edited By Denis Watkins on 03/05/2019 10:39:
Martin Dance 1
From experience Dremel tool parts are very expensive and hard to obtain. I go along with ED's advice that's what I use and all of the Dremel accessories fit, at least on mine.

Engine Doctor
Hi Douglas Google Black and Decker RT 650 and Home and Hardware should come up on the page showing £29 50, that might not include delivery so check. Have looked on eBay and they are a bit more expensive ? Thinking about it, the last one I bought from local DIY Homebase . wingcoax
There is an alternative, Look at Aldi or Lidl. They do a very good multi tool on the same lines as Dremel. Complete with flexi shaft and mini router head.
