Swapmeets

Recommended Posts

Hi once again

I came back to RC modelling about 18 months ago after a layoff of 15 or so years an d in the 15 yrs took up model railways. The mag I used to take had a listing of swapmeets all over the country. I was fortunate to be living in Mansfield Notts at the time and it was only 10 mins drive away. It was very well attended in fact it was packed with loads of bargans. Model Railways was the main thing but cars boats etc were there as well. My question is, do not the Model flying people have such a thing as I cant say I have ever seen it in any mag . If as you state we have 10000 members there must be an awful lot of folks would attend such a thing. I will just add that the railway swapmeets in Mansfield happened ever 12 weeks but if my memory serves me right there were about 60 per year all round the country. Perhaps I am not reading the mag they are listed in and the are there already, but no doubt if this is the case you will let me know

Local clubs often hold them too - but frankly, they are a dying thing. The main problem is that the relative price of new gear is so cheap these days, that you only get silly money - if anything - for second hand goods.....and of course, most of us have already got more stuff than we really need.
