Robin Mosedale 1
I've been fortunate to acquire a Durafly Fiesler Storch of 1154mm wingspan. It's the built up version:- **LINK** I test flew it quite a while ago. It was uncontrollable and set it aside until a couple of weeks ago, for a very calm evening. It was still uncontrollable. On closer inspection, some things weren't quite satisfactory. The wing retention was sloppy, and the rear empennage concerned, particularly the elevator joint from LHS to RHS, which was of soft balsa and flexed. Having now resolved those, it's now tight and responsive to controls, the characteristics that I'd experiences was severe tall heaviness. The batteries are 3S 2200mAh which is the upper end of the power requirements and on old discussion forums, many found a 1300mAh was useable. I'd balanced it at about 1/3 from the leading edge, which showed the battery well into the cockpit area. This is a long shot as this hasn't been around for a while. Does anyone have reference to the CofG is for this model please. By all accounts this should be a good stable flyer, and I'd like to persevere. Thanks Robin

Capt Kremen
Hi Robin, I have an unflown example too. [After acquiring it, I sadly reckon and doubt it's flight characteristics will be anything like the full-size ;-( ] Will see if I can find the instruction manual and see what that says re C of G. Martian
It seems 50mm is starting point reduce to 43mm bit at a time should have a very stable flight at that
J D 8
A few video's on you tube show these flying quite nicely, may be worth a look.
Robin Mosedale 1
Thank you Marian.? That's a good start. Capt, if you could find it that would be good
Martian
There have been statements referring to 50mm being wrong and when CG moved forward flight is good
Robin Mosedale 1
I'll start as far forward as possible and work back. At least nose heavy is more controllable.
Capt Kremen
Robin Found the instruction manual. (PM me and I can send you a copy). From the instructions: The C of G is stated at 50mm (2 inch) from the leading edge. Control Throws: Rudder 17mm / Elevator 14mm / Aileron 11mm - All Each Way

Robin Mosedale 1
I wonder if anyone has experience of these would like to comment. My own has been somewhat unusual to say the least. Your view would be more than welcome Robin
