Chris King 3
Hi, I'm upgrading my old 35Mz JR set to more modern kit after some spectacular unintentional aerobatics and landing in a tree! I like the idea of telemetry pimarily for battery level and like the Spektrum 6e but I notice that the G3 has voice alerts. Does the e just beep for alerts? Do people find the voice alert useful? I like the fact the G3 is compatible with Realflight too and that alone may swing it.
Frank Skilbeck
Yes, not Spektrum, but I find voice alerts useful, particularly if you have more than one alarm or want a quick readout in flight without looking at the screen. It's not essential and those that don't use telemetry will say it's not needed, but unless you are really tight for the pennies then getting a radio that does telemetry and voice will let you decide. Also and you would need to check, but I don't think the 6e Tx has aerial diversity (dual internal aerials at 90 deg to each other) and the G3 does. Shaun Walsh
Comparison of Spektrum Tx models here. Tx comparison I have a DX6 G3 and a DX7 G2 both have voice alerts which I find useful/reassuring (yes I did chose the right switch/ the motor is off). Also the DX6e does not have diversity antennae. Speedster
Just get one with voice, you will not regret it. Then you can have variometer and other nice stuff. But I would go for a least a 8 ch. 6 ch is not that good if you want a plane with flaps and other fun things, Cheers Soren
