Paul Law
Folks, What do you use to repair damaged foam or to fill cracks in the body / wings ? Also what about touching up paintwork, what type where to get ? Thanks, Paul
Phil McCavity
I've used Brown Gorilla glue to repair damaged foam and a lightweight filler such as One Strike/Red Devil or car body filler for body repairs depending on the material and severity. One Strike Red Devil This one for ABS, GRP and flexible plastic. Edited April 22, 2021 by Phil McCavity
SIMON CRAGG
I have found that the lightweight fillers are ok, but have a rubbery finish. This makes them awkward to sand down. I have gone back to el cheepo filler powder which is a doddle to sand down. Modern foam seems to take virtually any paint!.
Ron Gray
Red Devil sands really easily and is very light.
leccyflyer
I find that the lightweight "spackle" type fillers such as Red Devil work very well, sand easily and are lightweight. The B&Q Valspar matt and silk water based match pots work fine, but can stand a little thinning with water - straight from the pot I find them a bit too thick. I decant them into an aerosol can lid and add a little water before brushing on. The colour match is pretty good and for £3 you get more than enough to finish several funfighter sized models.
