martin collins 1
Bought this at a bring & buy today and am going to convert it to electric, it is rudder/elevator and 72" span, any ideas on what it is? The seller said he thought it was a Hurry up Harry or something similar but a search brings nothing up with that name. Covering looks like polyspan but it is blue and that is the colour of the covering, it has not been painted. It needs a repair in front of the fin and if i have to cut the covering i will be looking at a having to paint the rear decking if i can`t find the covering material..........M
J D 8
Don't know what it is but the UC looks to be on the wrong way around, perhaps?
perttime
I don't know what it is, either, but I get the feel of an Old Timer floater, with semi-scale styling for the fuselage. Those have the undercarriage pretty far forward. Is that rigging wires I see on the lower wing?
J D 8
If those are rigging wires on lower wing there would have to be interplane struts to go with them. What is the symbol on the fin ? Looks like a kangaroo. Edited June 28, 2021 by J D 8 question
John T
It looks a bit like a Brooks Biplane that's been slightly modified to me. Outerzone have a copy of the plans.
perttime
Even the number of wing ribs matches the Brooks Biplane (if I count correctly). Span on Outerzone is listed as 66", so the builder enlarged the design an bit. Sarik Hobbies is selling printed plans.
Robin Colbourne
John T & perttime beat me to it. I remember the Brook's Biplane from the old Aeromodeller plans handbook. Brooks Biplane - Outerzone JD8, the undercarriage is like that to prevent noseovers breaking the wooden propeller. Much the same as the pre-war Flying Quaker and Quaker Flash did.
