Engine Doctor
Asp have been obsolete for some time now. The tappet screw can easily be made from a small cap screw and appropriate nut. Not sure about the cover though . Might be the same as the 80 fs. Try giving Weston UK a ring and talk to Alan. They were distributors of Magnum engines some years ago , same as ASP,SC. They may still have some bits laying around . You could run it without the cover. Won't hurt it but will need oiling regularly.
flight1
yes could be a situation of making one up, i have looked for magnum parts, I am sure something will turn up, just got to keep asking around you never know
Engine Doctor
Hope you find tye parts. As you say there must be loads lying around. Whenever I try to buy old fourstrokes for spares many of the owners seem to think they are made of some sort of precious metal whereas they willingly dispose of two strokes . Jon H
What happened to the old rocker cover? If its got a hole in it from a broken rocker adjustor you can normally fix them up with car body filler and some coats of black engine enamel. I have rescued 2 or 3 rocker covers like this before. flight1
well the filling the whole in the old cover should be suffice i have a small bit of Jb weld laying about should do the trick. and yes the locking nut some how got loose and the tip of the tappet screw broke off (just the bit with the slot cut in),
Andy Gates
If only the tip of the tappet had broken off, remove it and using a dremel type tool cut a groove in the threaded bit. Reassemble and the tappet can be adjusted with a small screwdriver and still be locked out with the nut.
