Semiconductors, especially silicon are incredibly reliable and rugged - including integrated ci

Some of the more complex stuff and mixed device chips are a bit more finicky though.

Usually the simpler, large die size stuff from the 80s is pretty good.

Here we go "again" maybe, just maybe this will explain all,,,🥳

I have charged up my Helicopter pack of 5 Sub C ( ? ) 3300mah nihm which at the end of charge came to 7.11 volts, this took me back to when they first came out and I remember measuring up to 7.2 volts, but more on that later.

I left them at 18h ( 6pm in the evening for gods only people ) at 18.30h 6.90v, 19h 6.89v, 19.30h 6.88v, 20h 6.86v, and this morning at 7am 6.78v,

so giving that is 1.356v per element X 4 = 5.424volts, so I think maybe even 4 elements is taking a small risk for some servos and 5 elements will be sheer suicide.

Now going back in time when I sold Tamiya Grasshoppers and other electric cars where the so called speed controller was a bit of fibreglass with some brass wrapped around it and a big resistance with 3 connectors ( boring isn't it ) there was the small red plug that we called a BEC connector,  thinking back some of the two channel radios had BEC written on them, in fact this stood for battery eliminator circuit which enabled the retriever to accept from 4.8 to 8.4 volts, why you ask ?, the cars were run on a stick pack of 6 x Cadmium nickel battery's ( 7.2v ) and some early planes a 7 pack stick, ( 8.4v) so probably the 4.8v servo was supplied with a Bec retriever and that is why it was indicated that it would accept the voltage from the receiver.

sorry about my English it is over 45 years old,,,😅
