Phil Green
Spotted a brief glimpse of the hill around Darwen Tower on some random TV programme, I wondered if anyone had been, is it suitable for sloping?  I do enjoy trying new slopes, even small ones  😃 Had a look on Google Maps and it looks very much like Huddersfields Castle Hill. Ta! MattyB
Looking on Google Streetview it looks pretty flat - there's little or no compression on that edge, though at least landings should be turbulence free. I'd imagine it should be flyable with a lightweight R/E or any decent F3X model, but probably not thrilling stuff.  PS - Maybe contact this member on the BARCS forum, apparently he has flown there many times...
Steve Houghton
Phil, I have no recent knowledge, I'm afraid, but back in 1976 I came 4th in a Cross Country slope competition at Darwen Tower organised by the Ribble Valley MSA. There were a few top names there, including a certain Mr Sean Bannister. The wind direction was wrong for Pendle so we all migrated to Darwen and had a fine day's flying. Phil Green
Given this is a wide angle lens, it does look 'good in parts' 🙂    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orte7zG8A4U
