john stones 1 - Moderator
No personal experience Paul, but am told flap servos need to be up to the job, you may need bigger than micros.

P Smith 1
Hi I have ordered 2 lots of 10 mm carbon fiber spars for the front of the wing which will run along the main spar, and 6mm carbon rods for the rear, instead of ply ones ,think it may help with the weight, as im going to use 4 standard servos for ailerons and flaps any ideas ? P Smith 1
yes indeed im using alot of ideas i learnt with the building of the big 12 foot ziroli dakota, many years ago now, so this one will be a slight size drop one. a mini ziroli if you will lol😁 Edited April 29 by P Smith 1
P Smith 1
ok!! 1 servo connected up to center flaps, also managed to get the speed of the servo travel to slow down considerably. Just need to get second flap servo installed tomorrow, then im onto the front fuz Edited May 2 by P Smith 1
P Smith 1
been racking my brains today as could really see on the plan, where the keel of the aircraft fuz front went into the center wing section. So i think i have this correct, as far as i can see, the front keel goes directly into the block. heres the build as far as that is concerned, i have used an old top flight method of bending the hard balsa stick to the plane by cutting slots in it the weting it! .Then of course holding it down with clamps till it dries. been one of those days where i nearly gave this build up. P Smith 1 Posted Wednesday at 15:52 Author Share Posted Wednesday at 15:52 hi all Truth time ,honest opinion time ok im hitting lots of snags in this one, which are making me want to stop this build! its almost like i have to re design it in order for all the parts to fit! while working on the nose, and forward fuz area i had to cut stips of 1/8 by 1/2 strips so it would fit the slots in the formers im begining to see why there is no build log anywhere from anyone who has tried to build this kit!. the plan is totally diffrent from the pictures in the article, and its like you really have to think it through. Contacting the designer has been a fruitless endevour. it does sound like im giving this kit a knock on the head, i do not doubt the engineering skills, and respect him hugely for the designers efforts, but a brick wall has been hit with this one. Its not buildable in my honest opinion.

Chris Freeman 3 Posted Thursday at 06:47 Share Posted Thursday at 06:47 Hi Paul I often find a few days thinking often helps find solutions to a problem and also on a build like this to use your own experience to build and not always the way the designer did it I had to do that with the Zenair build, only problem is that when it was finished it is a lousy flier but this will not be a problem with a DC 3 as they fly well! The upside down airfoil on the stab should have made me think more before building!
