david james 1
Does anyone here know how the switch works? MY align turns as soon as it is connected to the battery. I have taken one side off and the micro switch seems to work OK - at least it clicks when I press the actuator. I can’t properly check it without taking off the wires which seem to be soldered on. Obviously the switching mechanism is more sophisticated as the micro switch connects to a little electronic board. Has anyone got any suggestions
Paul De Tourtoulon
It sounds as if the switch has melted inside, causing the connecting switch part to be soldered to the internal converters, un solder one of the wire to see if it is the case. RottenRow
These starters have undervoltage protection for the LiPo battery, and operation is therefore more complicated than just the switch. I think the switch will be turning on a power MOSFET on the circuit board, quite likely this has failed short-circuit. If electronic fault-finding fails to pinpoint the cause, you can buy a replacement board from AT here: https://www.align-trex.co.uk/starter-pcb-hfsstq09.html.html Obviously make sure that the microswitch is indeed working first. david james 1
I have been running it from a 12V car battery rather than a lipo. could this have caused the problem?
RottenRow
I wouldn’t have thought so. Unless you accidentally connected it backwards. Brian.
