Bert Posted January 17, 2009 Share Posted January 17, 2009 I don't care if you call me a 'killjoy' in fact I don't care what you call me, but I don't think it does the hobby any good to publicise the antics of these irresponsible people on what is essentially a public forum. Anyone casually browsing could come across this on here and think that all toy aeroplane enthusiasts are as stupid as this bloke. IMHO we get enough bad publicity as it is. I don't need to see these people on here, I know it's amusing in a horror movie sort of way, but we all get tarred with the same brush. It is because this IS a public forum that this hobby can be measured by others outside it. if you look a little closer you will see that the positives far, far out weigh the negatives when it comes to subjects posted. (rant over) The amount of hits this site gets is miniscule compared to YouTube, from where that video originated. Watch any aviation related video and you will be offered the chance to see some prat wreck a model. There are literally thousands of similar videos to the one above. None of them funny. My Serious Thread was kind of intended as a rebuke to all those crash vids, as THIS forum is full of careful, responsible modellers who start right and fly right - and it gives us the opportunity to not only show everyone this but also encourage newbies to join a club and take some responsibility.
