Either the kind sold for lining walls prior to papering (you can get light grades) This is the technique I use for making Panic wings, I apply 1000 grade lining paper directly onto foam cores using PVA. The paper is absorbent so I don't thin the PVA but I do wet the paper to make it compliant as it's too thick and stiff otherwise. I wrap it around the leading edge and peg it at the trailing edge to keep it tight while it dries. It shows some of the foam grain through as it shrinks but as long as you aren't too fussy it works just fine.
Zorba
Has anyone used this method on a 2.5m glider foam core with a lot of under camber? My concern is the paper pull away from the concave part of the wing when it dries.
Chris Walby
Not brown papered a glider, but remember that the brown paper does not shrink like film so I would have thought its bonding with the surface through the drying process would not cause it to delaminate. Best make a make a section of wing and try it and PM me and I'' send you some Brown Paper... I bought a few rolls, but it goes a very long way when covering! Zorba
Hi Chris. Thanks for that. I’ll give it a try on a sample as you say. Jack
