Edgeflyer
I have a large Aerobatic (Edge 540 88 inch) which normally takes a 50 to 60cc petrol engine. I am wondering what kind of electric motor might be used to convert it?
Philip Lewis 3
A Turnigy Rotormax 50cc is what I used (or an equivalent) in an MXS R about the same size that was designed for a 60cc petrol, much more power than the petrol equivalent, from memory swinging a 24" X 12" prop with about 5.5 KW on tap, 12 cell pack. 2.4g Shaun
I have a brand new one going spare if you're interested. Turnigy (can't remember exact model ) 50 to 80 cc equivalent depending on prop/ lipo pack. I have another identical one in a 1/3rd scale Dalotel on 12s model was designed for a 60cc petrol motor. 2.4g Shaun
I'll pm you later today when I've got it out and found out the exact specs. 👍 Shaun.
Philip Lewis 3
The Turnigy is a really strong motor, if that doesn't work out most practical alternative would be something from Dualsky or if money no object then Hacker, you'll want about 4KW minimum but more is fun! Duncan Disorderly
+1 on the Rotomax. Mine has held up well. Also Dualsky GA6000
2.4g Shaun
Edge.. sent you an email with the details etc. I was going to use it in my Mick Reeves 1/3rd scale Bristol M1 but it just wouldn't sound right. WW1 models aren't supposed to be quiet so a Zenoah 80 twin is going in. Cheers. Shaun.
