Peewhit
No longer knock any lumps out of EPP (and even Elaor) models, so how do I convince the wife that I need a Luna?
Ultymate
Tell her the moon is in the seventh high
Ultymate
Have exchanged posts with Andy "E" elsewhere and it seems likely the Typhoon will be priced around £280 for the standard glass version dependant on the exchange rate at time of import so watch this space It will be Sloperacer UK dealing Edited By Ultymate on 28/03/2009 19:43:

Darran Powell
What about the opus v? thats from sloperacer its a two metre but costs a little more than the typhoon.
Slopetrashuk
The Opus is a DS model in any available lay up. Great for frontside big winds but not a good all rounder. RG14 section likes to be well loaded and can give funny flicking habits and prolonged inverted flat spins (don't ask.....) If you like flying 80mph winds with a self launch 2m model full of lead - get an Opus. If you want to DS up to 180mph - Get an Opus (the VDS). If you have your eye set on breaking 300mph - get the MC3 (Or MCT - better still). If you want a great all round sport model - Get a Luna*. *Judgement reserved on the Typhoon as nobody's seen one yet. Andy
Tom Satinet
blade?? arf arf I had a luna, but sold it one before I built it. You certainly can't complain about the quality for the money. How do you rate the the Alex XL (aka toplight mega etc etc) Andy? They seem a good flying plane from the observers perspective.
Slopetrashuk
They've always seemed very capable. A little tight on gear in the wings it would seem, but fast and strong in the air. Never flown one directly. A.
Matthew Lloyd
The quality of that Alex XL looks very good indeed
Tom Satinet
yeah they are nice planes. Perhaps on the light side, but certainly not bendy (hello x-models!). they've never had much exposure in the mags or online. but i think called them 30 different names just confuses people. say luna and you know the planes. say toplight mega, spider, alex xl, etc etc it's not a "brand" as such. Peewhit
So, as a first mouldy, for all round slope performance and aerobatics, do I go for the Alex XL or the Luna. What about the 1.5 metre Alex.
Alex Leigh
My namesake Peter. I was looking at those tonight. 2.1 for me. August 16th is my Birthday, try and get one for then
Peewhit
Thought of you as I was looking at them Alex. Will be in Egypt on Aug 16th. Wonder if you can slope off a pyramid! The question still applies as to which is better. Which one did Matthew go for? ps still looking to head west to show you how a Fusion and Blizzard shouldd fly
Matthew Lloyd
And like dominoes we all fall... Luna for me. Promises a wide band of performance, robustness and ease of flying. And it's orange. With black and yellow stripes beneath. And it'll take HS85mg throughout

Peewhit
Thanks Matthew. The Ginger looks to be the one for me. I calculate 590 Singapor Dollars to be about £250 - £10 more than a Lune from Spire Models. Any idea as to shipping costs?
Andy Burgoyne
Have I missed something here ...you want to pay £10 more for the same thing ....plus post plus whatever the post office might hit you for ......????
Peewhit
Andy, It is an improved version with several mods and a better finish. Well worth £10 plus postage in my opinion. Also like a challenge, and never bought anything from Singapor before. Must be better to buy directly from where they are made rather than rely on the time delays of an importer, wholesaler and retailer.
Alex Leigh
Looks 'orrible At least the Alex comes in Red and White (much like me after being out in the sun). It's not buying the model that's so scary, it's having to buy a new TX to make it fly!
