Ken Latam
It arrived friday and is of much better workmanship then my CMP Discus or Fly Fly Salto. Tho there are a few tiny hick-up's. But it sure is BIG at 4056mm span. http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk210/wayupyonder/DG-80012.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk210/wayupyonder/DG-80015.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk210/wayupyonder/DG-8006.jpg Shame that the flap's are hinged on the bottom. But I can fix that easy enuff. Ken Edited By Ken Latam on 24/05/2009 03:39:44 Edited By Ken Latam on 24/05/2009 03:42:
Alan Dunstan
Ken - Flaps should be hinged at the bottom. That allows them loads more deflection. Why do you think thats wrong? Regards. Alan
Simon K 3
Ken, Looks nice, but a few questions, if I may... - Where did you buy it from and how much was it? - Any pictures of the underside of one wing (to show servo mount points)? - Are tips removable? - What are the "tiny hick-up's" you mention? (I agree with Alan, having flap hinges bottom mounted is good to get movement for crow braking.) Thanks Regds Simon
simon barr
Lovely! Same questions as Simon. Also, on the spec in photo 2, it states wing span as 3.9m, but you say it's 4.05m, are these add-on tips? Tom Satinet
A shame from a scale point of view? bottom hinged flaps will give you a lot more movement than top hinged flaps. Nearly all 4 servo wing gliders (well I can't speak for scalies) have bottom hinged - top driven flaps nowadays.
Andy Burgoyne
Looks more like an ASW than DG though ......if you look at a 400 600 800 youll see the canopy goes right out to the tip of the nose ... http://www.sailplanedirectory.com/images/dg800.jpg
Ken Latam
I know it is better to have bottom hinged flap's. But what I would of liked is to have them with a proper bottom pinned hinge so that the upper surface is sealed when the flap's are in the full up position. ken
