David Ashby - Moderator
It was a free plan in RCM&E Gareth, Sept 1997 issue. A hugely popular Malcolm Corbin design. The plan is £5.95 on the plans service. You can get a copy of the article by calling customer services on 01689 899200 opt 3. David.
Stephen Bennett
Hi Gareth,The Mini Jazz plans are available at the plans link on the right hand side of this screen. They are in aerobatic models in the aircraft section. (plan no.MAG227).No mention of a cowl or canopy though.Cheers,Steve.
Mark Lubbock
Hi,I built a Mini Jazz from the free plan when it first came out-It is still flying & is one of my all time favourites.Being a cheapskate, I used part of a blue cider bottle (had to drink it first-hic!) for the canopy & buit up the cowl from bits of scrap balsa, so don't worry about these items, just build one & have the time of your life for next to no money!I powered mine with an OS 10FP, & this is fully aerobatic but not quite vertical, but a gallon of fuel lasts a lifetime. Grant Darnley
the original jazz was sold ARC by Weston but went away a long time ago. The mini was sold as a plan pack but I forget who by. Did a bit of looking and the only thing I can find is an undercarriage on carbon copy, type "CCU00 Undercarriage Legs" into their search bar. Coke/cider bottle for the canopy should be fine though
Kevin Fairgrieve
Just built one. Cowl and canopy still avaliable. Edited By Kevin Fairgrieve on 21/03/2009 19:10:
David Ashby - Moderator
Thought I'd just mention that both a CNC parts pack and a wood completion pack for the Mini Jazz go on sale today via our plans service so a good thing if you've always wanted to build (or perhaps revisit) this classic little aerobat. Kevin Fairgrieve
I still like mine. The fuselage has been rebuilt twice now. Both times down to my own exuberence... Would I build another when this one finally dies. You bet I would. See my mini review here. Glenn Scott
Brilliant, I've still got the original mag for that and bought the canopy and cowl about 2 years ago in anticipation for a build (which has still yet to happen). I think that wood pack can save me a bit of time. Nice one RCME. I think I'll prefer to go electric with this one though. Has anyone made their mini-jazz electric yet, and if so any build/motor recommendations.
Ian Jones
Aha! So thats what it is, there's one of those in my hangar! It came to me part built and I maidened just 2 weeks ago. It's an electric conversion job and I had to guess the CG. it's turned out nose heavy so there's some work to be done on that. Too many glitches on 35mhz so next flight will have to wait until I get 2.4Ghz Rx for it. Great to find out what it is & even have some instructions for it. crispin church
cg i work on 50 to 70mm works great for me Emax BL2826/06 works great in mine on 11x7 yer ok abit over the top but its what i had to hand 850rpm/v 9100rpm 48a 2430g of thrust emax say my batt got hot so remember to got air holes in front and back of fuse
Ian Jones
I've just got a FC2812 in mine, swinging a 7x6 though again prop selection may well be something to work on. I have a 1" hole in the inderside of the fuselage and the the 30 amp ESC positioned in the air flow to this hole. In the three flights so far neither battery or speed controller seem to have got anything more than a little warm. Thanks for the tip on CG Crispen, I'll look into that. andrew parkinson
I have a full size Jazz from Weston. I bought it on eBay from a guy whose Dad built it 12 years ago. It's a lovely plane - easy to fly but very aerobatic.I've never seen or heard of another so if someone has one....
simon burch
What is the wingspan of your full size Jazz. Might get a set of plans and get them enlarged. That looks a great machine, very much like the Hype.
andrew parkinson
Wingspan is 128cm. I replaced the OS 46 with a Jen 57 engine so it goes really well. If you want more measurements or photos let me know.

Hi Simon. No prop hanging is almost post mini jazz days!! Fuzz is too short for that. Good fun trying though ) Knife edge is poss but needs loads of stick imput and all but full throttle Reminds me of the first time I saw Paul Heckles hanging a wot 4 at sandown I still have mine inc carbon U/C and os fp 15.Leccy is the way to go now for sure.Malcolm

Malcolm Corbin
How did it fly ? Did you try inverted if yes was stick neutral or did you have to push down in?? My moto.... "Never add weight. Fit bigger motor" OR bigger Li poly CG is very much a personal thing!!!! Some of the display boys in the sandown era flew model with such rearward CG you would be amazed !!
