Yorkman
Anyone know of a line of spinners (preferably for electric) that are more 'blunt' or 'rounded' if you prefer, as found on say a Lanc or Mosquito's Merlins, or a Typhoon or Tempest? All the commercially available ones I've found are too 'pointy'-more Kittihawk or P51 Thanks!
Tim Mackey
Try the ones from Puffin - I had a few nice rounded ones ( alloy ) with cooloing holes in the nose too - graupner I think.
Yorkman
just had a look at puffin-nothing there I'm afraid...the ones for folding props look a bit more like the right shape, but the others are all too pointy!
Tim Mackey
Ah yes, it was indeed a folder version I had - sorry
Doug Ireland
I've just spent a couple of hours searching and can't find anything either. Shame as I wanted one for my Hurricane!

Shame as I wanted one for my Hurricane! that's exactly the style i need-for both york and mossie! York had papier-mache ones originally, but far too fiddly to be doing with that now.. Yorkman
seems like someone (in the spinner manufacturing market) is missing a trick here-musing earlier and the FW190 also had the same style....must be a whole raft of WW2 warbirds that could use them-anyone want to contribute to the list? david Osborne
Try Krumscheid, they have a large range of aluminium spinners of good quality. Hope the link below workshttp://www.krumscheid-metallwaren.de/neu/shop.php?lang=EN Cheers Dave Osborne
Danny Fenton
If you are using electric power then you can use vacformed spinners with a ply backing plate. You can then either make your own plug and vacform with 1mm styrene or get somebody like Roly at Sarik Vacform to vac some for you? I did this for my Sea Fury spinner They are so light they don't really need to be accurately balanced. Just don't stand your model on its nose Cheers Danny
Doug Ireland
Impressive bit of work there Danny.
Andy Gates
Again for electric only. You could always turn some of your own from laminations of light balsa.Temporary CA a ply backing with a bolt in its centre to your laminations, stick it in a piller drill or a hand drill held firmly in a vice and sand it down to shape.Do wear a mask though since you will be generating plenty of dust, and goggles are a good idea too. I did this to create a very pointy cone shaped spinner for my Fairey Gordon. Works well and it is in balance since it weighs little.Edited By Andy Gates on 14/11/2009 13:32:
Doug Ireland
I got this 2 1/2" three-blader from Ripmax, nice rounded shape. I'll be using this on my Tony N Lysander.
