Bruce Richards
I got a look at the new E flite helicopter last night. It is the big brother of the MSR I got for Christmas. It has a full CCPM control head and a fancy TX. It was not possible to see it flying but it looks very nicely built.
michael birks
it does indeed look a nice heli, the one good thing about E-Flite Helis is that when they say they are setup and tested at the factory they actually are unlike some companys cough esky cough i could not believe the pitch setup up on a friends heli -7 to +3 and that was in normal mode not idle up,so have become quite fond of equipment distributed by Horizon Hobby namely the Msr i just sold to help fund my new Spektrum radio, but yes getting back to the SR it does look the Bizz the optional sunset canopy in orange and red looks the part, although i have just reverted back to nitro helis it will be good to have an electric one in the stable. Bruce Richards
Michael what are you going to sell to fund the SR?
michael birks
thankfully i wont have to,i should be back into gainful emplyment after been ill for some time,i would call it more a stock rotation in my wifes mind sell off last years equipment etc to buy the new,she can never understand why i have to have a handful of planes and two helicopters, wont one suffice?? i hear her say so as to keep the peace i rotate the collection, but no in all seriousness i am returning back to work after a lengthy spell at home playing with depron etc, looking forward to returning to work i have a new raptor to maintain to. Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
I don't qute get it, what makes it different to the trex 250 or the cheap immitation one? Maybe a CCPM MSR!
Bruce Richards
Peter yes think of it as a larger CCPM MSR. Its either RTF (with Tx) or BNF. It should be a matter of take it out of the box, charge the battery, bind it, fly it.
Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
I guess, i just think, maybe they have gone too close to existing models I would be really interested in trying to make a ccpm MSR
Bruce Richards
I would also say its a bit bigger than a 250 more like a 400 size. But I might be wrong just going from memory.Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 19/01/2010 09:51:
Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
its about 500mm rotor span, my 450 is about 600mm i think
Jimbo565
the elfight sr is the same heli as a esky cp3 they are only about 100 rtf out the box . am not sure how much the sr is tho but sure to be more then 100 quid . posted by ben hall not jimmy as i was on his machine at the time
MooSey
£175 preorder at Sussex model centre.
michael birks
370 size just smaller than a
Richard Carpenter
Now the SR is in stock with model shops is anybody thinking of getting one, or even have one already? The cheapest I've seen is ?160, although I'm sure a few deals will start to creep on eBay soon. I'm seriously tempted, although I don't need the TX. Do you guys have any suspicions as to how much the bind 'n' fly will cost?
Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
Problem with models this size is they lose their crash resistance and as we all know the smaller the heli, the harder it is to fly :s maybe when I can fly my belt cp without soiling myself every flight! Bruce Richards
Well Peter the Eflite Blade is one of the smallest helis and must be one of the easiest to fly. Maybe it's the exception that proves the rule.Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 09/03/2010 07:58:
Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
but that is just a 4ch heli, it has most of the stability features of a coax, which is why it is so easy to fly, also what about the blade 400 heli? that is 'bind 'n' fly' effectively
Mark Jones
just ordered a blade SR hope its going to be good , have the msr and that is good fun. just hope we get some nice calm evenings
Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
Now that I have looked more into it, it does look quite good, but they have gone and made it more stable.

Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
Might recondition and sell my Hirobo Lama and get one maybe, Anyone? £200! amazing quality!
Richard Carpenter
Bizarrely Peter it looks as though we've switched positions! When I first saw the SR I thought it would be perfec as my first proper heli, although some of the advice I've read on a few heli sites suggests a Blade 400 programmed with a more gentle set-up for a novice might be a better option because it's slightly larger, has a direct drive tail and spares cost the same or less. Because I have a DX7 and a few of the right size lipos it seems to make sense. It's going to be the next step from a coaxial for me, so if you guys have any suggestions that'd be great. Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
What about a Hirobo Lama Contra rotating heli :P £210! I will be buying new parts for all the bits that have cosmetic flaws so it will be good as new
michael birks
really like the optional canopy sunset red, hopefully going to try and get a bind n fly version i would prefer practising 3d with an electric heli as opposed to using my Raptor due to the cost of spares,i used a cp2 for a while and loved the fact that it would only cost 15-20 after a major crash the cp3 would be a viable alternative but as usual i really dont need another tranny plus the good point about E-Flite gear is when then say it's set up at the factory it does seem to true,i had a lot of fun with my MSR and was chuffed to bits when i heard it had a bigger brother i will hang on until the better weather arrives and the price has settled,i think the BNF price is around £145 but perhaps someone has seen a better deal???? happy easter!!
