Ross Clarkson
Hi all, I recently bought a 57mm spinner from TJD for my new plane which has an OS .61 FX engine in. Problem is, the spinner nut which retains the front part of the spinner is not large enough to thread on to the prop shaft. Do i need to get a special spinner to fit this shaft or can i get the shaft nut seperately? Advice greatly recieved.
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Hi Ross, you need something called an spinner adapter. If you take a look the spinner supplier should supply them in different sizes to suit most different engine threads - I don't use OS so I don't know what their thread is but it will be a one of the standard 3 or 4 knocking around. Have a look on the spec sheet that came with your engine. Then you can order the appropriate adapter. BEB

Stephen Grigg
When you fit the spinner Ross, can you take photos ,the spinners I get usually have everything with them and I want to see if yours is any different
Ross Clarkson
Yeah, will do Stephen. The one i originally got from TJD which is made by JP does come with everything but the spinner adapter (The silver aluminium nut that threads onto the prop shaft and then a screw goes through centre of spinner into this) is not large enough for the 5/16" engine prop shaft. So, i have had to purchase a seperate one that has a bigger thread.
Marko
Hi ross next time you buy a spinner look to see if you have a choise of 1/4. Or 5/16 thread. On just engines page you do .on a fs you will need to cut the spinner bold down a little bit cheers ..........mark
