Hi Steve, What I didn't mention is that we are starting from Cardiff. I just checked out your A470Soaring link. We are stopping off with the outlaws for a few days so if the weather's good I'll keep an eye on the hills if we head up north of Cardiff. Cheers Fraser

Hi Steve, We're doing a bit of a tour this Easter starting of in Trefin near St Davids and then heading up and round to Aberdovey. We spend quite a lot of time in Trefin and the local area as the family have a holiday cottage there. Cheers Fraser

Many thanks Mark, I'll take a look at the dates and see if I can engineer a break inline with a meet. Cheers Fraser

Brilliant! Thanks Mark & Tim, appreciate your feedback. Really good info. Great video Mark, I was using it like a tutorial I was amazed at how quickly the glider disappears into the distance and re-emerges for a fly past. I'm heading up to Wales for Easter with the family so am going to throw a little Flite Test design foam wing in the car to try sloping it. I'll try the dunes near Aberdovey first and then maybe get a bit more adventurous but theses little nuggets of knowledge are really great. It's funny, every time we go back to Wales as I'm chilling looking out over the bays my mind quickly drifts to 'wonder if I could slope off here'? If successful this time I see me investing in a little SAS Wildthing to keep in the cottage for the summer visit Thanks chaps! Edited By Fraser White on 25/03/2015 11:22:43

Hi Mark, I couldn't make out what Tim said about what to do when pushing too far out and seeing the lift drop. He mentioned inexperienced pilots panicking and trying to get back to the slope but couldn't make out what you should do Appreciate if you can recall. Many Thanks Fraser

....and be sure to warm the can up before spraying. Not sure why but the results are better

Tamiya do a spray that you used on the inside of the RC Car shells to add a smoked effect on the window areas. Think its called Smoke PS-31 from memory. Cheers Fraser

Hi Stephen, Looks like a really interesting build. Can I ask what you plan to use as a power plant ? Any plans to release the er...plan ? The unusual and unorthadox are always more interesting to model. I will be following with intrigue! Thanks for sharing! -
Does anybody know what happened to GWS. Nobody in the UK seems to stock them anymore ? Very odd!
-
Many thanks for the info Stuart. I see GWS do a nice relatively inexpensive A-10 airframe which may good to cut my teeth on. Seems to have quite a following It's a design I have loved ever since the first moment I saw (and heard ) one in the air! Cheers Fraser
-
Ok thanks Stuart I'm tempted to start on one of the RCPowers designs as they look like they have great low speed flying characteristics before moving onto a full on EDF pocket rocket. Thanks for responding Cheers Fraser
-
Hi Stuart, Just happened upon this thread and checked out your YouTube vids. I'm looking to get into the jet side of things so can I ask which version of the A-10 you have ? Is it the GWS version or something different ? Thanks Fraser

Thanks Stuart, Added to the Christmas list

Hi Stuart, Can I ask what camera you are using ? Thanks Fraser

Hi Glenn, If you want a real slow flyer that's easy to handle on your own if you prefer going that route I can recommend the GWS Slow Stick. It take no time at all to put together as there's nothing to it and its very cheap. It's big enough that you can get used to the model orientation flying at a safe height and light enough that if you do overshoot a landing, it doesn't sustain any serious damage. Only suitable for light /no winds and is 3 channel but you can purchase an aileron wing for it as your skills progress. Just my own experience and there is a wealth of knowledge on the forum as everyone has gone through the process. Just my tupence worth! Cheers Fraser

Awesome, thanks Steve! Much appreciated!

Hi Slopers, Ok I'm seriously interested now ! I've got the model all sorted but just need a steer on the nearest flying site. I'm just in the process of moving out from London to the Henley area and there seems to be a few bumpy bits around there. Can any of you good fellows recommend any slopes around that area ? Have car so can travel. Any recommendations apprecaited. Thanks Fraser

Pete Nicholson Spitfire, Balsacraft kit.
Fraser White replied to Kelly's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Hi Guys,I should probably post this on the classifieds but as yet I need convincing to let it go, but I have a Balsacraft Spitfire Kit in as new condition which I will be willing to let go for the right price. It's been on my to do list since I bought it back in 2001 but just never got round to it. It was purchased at Sandown and has been opened twice to gaze at all the lovely bits. It's time for it go to someone who will do it justice and get it in the air. I thought I'd let the good folk on modelflying know about it before putting it on fleebay. CheersFraser
