Don't go worrying yourselves about the News channels losing interest when the snow goes - they will already be brushing up on their standard flooding texts and digging out the archive film of car roofs floating down the High Street!

Apart from "Top Gun", mentioned in another thread  ,I do like "Dark Blue World" - a bit of a niche film about Polish Spitfire pilots - the spitfire shots are great and there's a hilarious bit where the Brits are trying to teach the Poles fighter tactics using bicycles with pretend wings attached!

My favourite book is "First Light" by Geoffrey Wellum - it is so well written that at one stage while reading it I had a mental picture of sitting behind him it his Spitfire cockpit when he was lost in cloud. I believe they are making a film of it to be shown in the summer.   Favourite DVD without any shadow of a doubt is "Night Bombers" a documentary about Hemsdale lancasters filmed in 1943 in colour by the station CO. The part where he is filming a lancaster struggling to take off while flying alongside it (in an Anson I believe) is just breath taking.   Favourite fiction movie is "Top Gun" ......... yes, I know, I'm sorry, really really sorry 

  My New Years resolutions are:-   1] I will always complete all aerobatic manoeuvres above ground level.   2] I will always remember to take my transmitter to the field.   3] I will not snigger at my fellow pilots' wreckage.   4] I will not spend all my money on retail aircraft therapy.   5] I will not entertain ladies half my age.   We'll see how long I can keep them
