  1. Thats Fab Thanks Chaps. (And lovely detailing there Tim!)
  2. Howdy - I bought the complete mass build kit in time for Christmas 2012 and have spent this holiday trying to finish it. One problem is that the canopy seems very "generous" and I wonder if I have been provided with a canopy for the bigger span Tucano rather than the Mass build version. Does anyone have a mass build version that still has its surrounding moulding and can compare?. The bulkheads (cockpit front to cockpit back are about 260mm - the canopy moulding is about 340mm. Its also about 5mm too wide all around the sides. Suggestions please?
  3. Thats a Fokker Wolf 190 or Butcher Bird as we called it
  4. And Good day to you too Andre although there' s only 37 minutes left of it
  5. Gosh Martin - thats sounds absolutely dreadful! Reading this I realise how grateful I am to the two old gits who turn up every sunday, take on all comers and have trained dozens of model flyers over the years. The rule is that you should phone the day before so that they know whether they will have students or be flying for pleasure.. Is there any way I can arrange a model flying medal for them both I wonder?
  6. Regarding 2.4 receiver antennae - as Geoff says the two short sections of bare wire must be kept at right angles to each other. I used a piece of snake tube formed into a right angle triangle and cyanoed with the two bare ends just overlapping - the antenna wires are fixed onto the crux point and the bare ends inserted up the open ends. This means the two ends are always at right angles and the receiver can easily be moved from model to model (yes I am poor!)
  7. If you lived in South Essex you could join our club and we have two trainers you could use

    Plane Crash TV

A relative worked on the post production of this film and tells me the plane landed well short of all the beautifully arranged slo mo hi def cameras set up. Ah well - makes me feel better about all my long grass arrivals at the patch
  9. suggest you download either Flight Radar or Plane finder then you can follow any commercial aeroplane in Europe - I have it running on the iphone and love to bore the family with details of everything that overflies
  10. Doh! thanks Wolston Flyer - I hadn't spotted the power thread
  11. My kit arived last Friday and I guess I wil have to build it now - please add me to the list. Gonna need help speccing up the motor, esc and batteries. Is any supplier offering a complete tech fit to match the wood, CNC, Canopy set?
  12. Ordered a complete set last night - got an email to say Goods have been dispatched - Come on you Posties! Gimme gimme
  13. Hi Mike - Sorry i missed this post in March . I am a member of Thurrock model flying Club and just found your post when i was testing our google factor. Gateway in Tilbury is a great club and i believe they have use of a sports hall for indoor flying. Meanwhile over in Aveley we had about 30 flyers on the line last weekend which was crowded but a great laugh. On any Sunday if there are cars parked alongside the Aveley bypass you will find us in the adjacent field. Hopefully you are sorted by now and well on your way to a A cert! Sorry the website doesn't work - we are trying to get it sorted. Regards MA
  14. Good Stuff :Lone Wolf- roll on that B cert!
  15. Please can I have it cos since Sunday I am "between Models". Again.
  16. I am writing to confirm that the HA Shootout was populated by the biggest bunch of reprobates I have ever met and was, as a result, a fantastic weekend of high end flying, planes, and great laughs. Congratulations to the whole HA team but especially Sean (and Family) and the two Simons and Emma who did most of the running around. A fantastic event - even the weather was organised to perfection. And respect to those that travelled from Aberdein, Teesside and Bristol to take part, Well done chaps. Roll on 2012.
  17. Gosh - this is such a bad idea - it is totally symptomatic of an organisation in contraction to establish a museum of "a golden past"   The facts are: - numbers of signed up BMFA flyers and Membership of BMFA is falling The average age of membership is rising New membership is characterised by old flyers returning to the sport National Lottery is extremely unlikely to support capital costs of purpose built facility for an organisation whose membership is 99% white, middle aged, middle class Income from conference trade wil be negligible (there are thousands of lovely venues vying for diminishing conference trade - I know cos I run one).   I suspect investment on a project like this would be the end of the BMFA which already projects a very out of touch image through the BMFA news. We all need to work very hard to get more youngsters into our fantastic hobby and that means educational tie ups, offering training facilities, club trainers, working with the aerospace industries, hands on building opportunities, a proper website, etc etc all very nice - but actually we can only raise interest at local level with voluntary effort from local club members - how can BMFA best support that?
  18. I have heard that a certain rowdiness is asociated with these events. I do hope that undesirables are not attracted to the sweet sylvan glades and unsullied virgin woodlands of the paradise we call Essex
  19. Sorry I missed this yesterday but I think it will be a long time before batteries can ape real fuel
  20. This morning after my Wot 4 bounced on landing, my venerable instructor Mr Barry Wise intoned the magical words "We can teach monkeys to fly better than that" And he could.
  21. Balsa Cabin at Maldon in Essex probably worth a try - and a trip to Essex is always joyous
  22. Martin Baker MB5 - looks like a mix of Spitfire and mustang and would have outperformed both - a simple planform with an interesting contrarotating prop
  23. Thought this was a great idea and was ready to catch some snaps but wet and windy all day Sunday in Essex UK -hopefully next week?
  24. Thankyou Timbo - replicating the fault is goingto be the challenge I also picked up on a recall for some spektrums with dodgy jack leads so that is worth checking too. REgards Flugfan
