  1. Have been in the park - but as my favourite is Debbie Harry I left before ELO .... Had a flight from Heathrow at 7:50 next morning, so that's an extra excuse to leave the concert early. Newport Pagnell, where I live, is not around the corner from the Hyde Park. But in any case it was worth going there. Billy Ocean made a good gig as well! VA, music department
  2. Be yourself and concentrate. Shouldn't be a big problem. I made mine on a very windy day. Landing wasn't perfect for that reason. But if the examiner is flying in the same club as you (which I don't know in your case) he may have made himself a picture of your skills anyway. good luck VA
  3. Hi and welcome to the forum! sure you will get the flying bit of the hobby! I am personally always nervous when I fly a kit built model for the first time - this is how much I trust my own building skills... With ARTF I do not have this problem. @ John F - where (which club) were you flying in MK? VA
  4. I can look into the Angel 50 - (currently in my sons loft...). - I suppose it is 2 degrees down, 2 degrees right. Never had any problem with the motor fixing in Sebarts - have a Sukhoi 30 and as mentioned the Angel 50. If there is anything to criticize it is the landing gear. I know the plane has to be light, but every landing which isn't a greaser may give you small bending. VA
  5. Invested in a Miele, works a treat. I don't like bagless vacuum cleaners as the contact with the dust while emptying it is not really good for your health. But by putting households together (officially married since 8 days) one of these bagless things made it into our new house... Vax mach 3. Weight / stairs: no problem, bought a bungalow Good for carpets. And finally in the workshop a Lidl Parkside 30l wet&dry is sucking sawdust and whatever comes in his way.... VA
  6. looks rater superficial from the picture. The zinc coating is eaten up and so the corrosion starts. Treat it with Loctite 7503 rust remedy and then paint it. VA
  7. Hi Frank and welcome to the forum. ARTF is not totally bad, they fly well Of course building yourself gives you more fun and over a longer time. also you can bring in your own engineering solutions instead of following the main stream. For this reason I have a mix of stuff, with some endless building projects VA
  8. Martian, Will you stick to the colour scheme (white and blue stripes)? In the film Dusty was white/orange if I remember right (yes, I have seen it with the age of 55...) And I am sure your grandson will ask you to go knife-edge through the hedges VA, interested
  9. looks interesting. could be a mass build candidate for 2015? VA
  10. Chris, I will be on mains as well - cable is already laid, needs to be connected which will not be too soon as I have some family priorities first count-down is on 10 days.... Be careful to have some proper overcurrent protection, as the inner resistance of lipos but also NiCd etc. is very low. The current you will draw in case of a short circuit will be only limited by the resistance of the cable.... this can end in a nice firework. VA
  11. Just a quick status - windows and doors are in, and the whole thing can be locked. Actually the hinges are screwed from the outside - so I have to think of some security.... As it is now you can enter with a simple screwdriver... VA
  12. short status: the weather gods where very nice to me, we had just a short shower at lunchtime, so I could finish the roof - well there is some trimming of the edges necessary - but the thing is waterproof now. Picture showing the shed at 8:15, now it is poring down with rain. windows and doors are planned for tomorrow afternoon. VA
  13. Thanks guys, I try to get it dry before the rain comes - so I proceed with the work now. VA
  14. Of course the shed was not delivered on time but with 11 days of delay. but - it came today. And early I was positively surprised. the next 1,5 hours where covered by carrying the material to the "building site"   And on we go. the floor was a bit annoying - as per instruction every board is fixed with 2 nails per bearer - gives 1248 nails. But the rest went up very quick. this was approximately at 5 and this is the situation at 8.To be continued. VA, slightly sun burnt   Edited By Vecchio Austriaco on 07/08/2014 22:11:00
  15. Hi, hope you don't get cog problems with that. Everything heavy is located at the wing area and the nose is short. Like it as it looks pretty unusual! looking forward to more information and a build blog! VA
  16. Have a lot of dust around as well, house renovation.... but my transmitters are in cases and all the model stuff is either in boxes or not at my house at all (I use the loft of a relative for storage)... what about blowing the dust away? Most of the industrial hoovers can be set up to blow, or if there is a compressor available it could be used as well. If the dust sticks to the surface you could help the blowing action with a soft small paint brush. This is how I clean my model display stuff (Trains, ships etc.) Do it outside - otherwise you may get into trouble VA
  17. inspired by Steve and his man cave project I have to update my countdown. countdown one: 5 days until the shed will be delivered countdown two: 29 days until change of marital status VA, travelling as usual. Greetings from Denizli, Turkey
  18. nice one. how long do you think it will take you to finish it? VA
  19. Had best experience with Autan spray - but not from here, I purchased it in Sydney. Probably they have a different recipe there as the main attackers down there look like a small fly but bite similar to a horsefly. Unfortunately the bottle is empty now. Need to convince either my company to send me to our Australian factory or my better half to book a holiday in Australia... VA
