  1. Got one i`m selling, all up with a 4 stroke, just add rx and fuel if anyone is interested.......
  2. What is the difference in the two Eric, they look pretty similar to me apart from a thinner wing on the Tempest?
  3. Prefer the Typhoon out of the two but will go with the majority decision, i think the Typhoon might be the better seller to Joe public being RAF and with invasion stripes would be more eye catching. Are we still talking hand launch or has it moved on from that, hopefully not otherwise mine would have to have danglies as i would want to get it built and in the air quickly.
  4. Understand other stuff takes priority Richard, i feel we could keep going round in circles over the differing views of what would be best and still be at the same point in 4 weeks time.. You lay down a spec Richard and tell us what the kit will comprise based on the discussion to this point and get some feedback on that. My Mrs is already trying to research ideas for her Christmas present, i have not a clue what i would want. If we can get the ball rolling on something with a release date snuck in before Christmas i will put my name down for a kit and hopefully be unwrapping it on Christmas day. Can it be done? Anyone else want one under their Christmas tree? Could be a selling point.
  5. Precisely my point, you opened the box at a show and could immediately see how quick it would go together. They also had a pair of nicely finished ones on raised display stands to show what the finished article looked like👍
  6. If you pushed the button on the Tempest kits once all the dancing on the kit material/spec was done how long would it be before they could be in the post Richard? 😜
  7. Love the Silhouette, got two airframes plus an unbuilt in the box, my flier is my stand by go to model. Spot on post, main fuz structure was pre built with foam turtle decks to be added VERY quick build. My pal and i both bought a kit at the Nats, they must have sold loads of those. A scale type warbird with a keen price point following that formula, you would shift a number if marketed and shown around. Richard's original Spit is close to this idea. Maybe we should talk around a run of tweaked Spit kits, not interested in retracts, would they hand launch? Or fixed gear.... Just a thought!
  8. Nice P38 Richard, looks like a proper scale model. Speed of build while keeping the `in the air` cost as low as possible, if that means ditching the veneer so be it. I hope to persuade a couple of my club mates to have a go with one of these kits, speed of build and keen price/cheap motor/servos, finishing materials etc will help sell it. Bring it on Richard 😁
  9. Bit blustery at the strip today, probably should have come down with this yesterday when it was flat calm but was too busy working on another model to come flying. This handles the wind alright even though it is built very lightly for a DB Moth, you just have to pick your moment to land.
  10. Sorry about the angle, was using my phone and turned it to get a larger view! VID_20230823_174843.3gp
  11. May have sorted the issue, pulled the plug and the gap was quite a bit too small, i had already had to alter the hi and lo screws quite a bit from what it arrived with. I have also found it starts in a completely different way to my KALT 23, there is no choke on that so finger over the carb, suck the fuel in till it floods, 3 flicks and away it goes. Numerous tries and i pretty much know how to start this 26 now, choke closed and finger over carb trumpet, suck the fuel in till it`s dripping, spin it over with starter with choke closed throttle set at 40%, sometimes it will cough but not always. Open choke and spin it on starter till it catches, worked each time i tried it over several hours. It tries to go on a flick but not enough to keep running, i am wondering if the mag air gap needs re setting, when i used to fly petrols about 20 years ago my flying buddy always did the tuning and he always checked and adjusted the air gap and they all started great. The engine now carries on running once started using the above technique, sounds great with excellent throttle response.
  12. No air going in, you can see the pipe ifs full of fuel, vent?
  13. Did this work? In the same boat now, looking for a Walbro to suit a G26.......
  14. Ran my G260 OPU for the first time today, this was a used engine bought second hand and it is having difficulty starting, when i do it more often than not it dies after a few seconds. I did manage to get one long run out of it and tuned it for high and low running. Once stopped it wouldn`t restart again even on a starter with out flooding it with the choke and finger over the carb and then it required a long go on the starter before a short burst and quitting again. The fuel pipe is full of fuel but it doesn`t seem to pull it in by itself, i have had the top off the carb and the filter is clean and the two `flaps` appear ok. Just Engines have said best route is a new Walbro but they are out of stock with no date given for re supply, anyone know of another supply in the UK? Was hoping to be flying this next week but short of robbing the carb off my sweet running G23 things are looking doubtful..........
  15. For me speed and ease of build combined with a keen price will help sell them to more people. I'm not keen on ARTF foamies, i prefer to put something together myself. Richards kits are great, if they could be simplified a bit futher with foam in more areas to speed up the build/reduce the production costs/weight that would be great. I have stalled on the Lavochkin build part way through the retract stage, i will get back to it but retract installation/repair is my bug bear so hand launch or fixed gear is a plus and speeds up getting it in the air.
  16. Finishing off a petrol engined YT Aichi Val project, should be in the air by the end of the week which leaves me looking for the next project. Now i have the foam Hellcat box open it would be rude not to start it! I feel one of my 7 day challenges coming on 🤪 . Not done one of my challenges for a couple of years, 7 days from start to flying it, will do a build blog and will have it to take to the next RAFMAA fly in on the 8th.
  17. Dug out the Mainly Models Hellcat, this is what the kit contains, is this the sort of thing you have in mind Richard?
  18. Thanks guys, any help appreciated, would be good to meet you and see your models as well. Will post more details nearer the event.
  19. Very impressive Michael, any more details on the models, any build pictures of them before covering?
  20. Hi guys, Manny at the BMFA has offered a free stand to demonstrate the art of building models with foamboard and depron. I have said i will man it both days and have my 109, Skystreak and Carvair models for people to look at and to give demos/explain how they are put together, where the materials are sourced from and how you can produce cheap light scale looking airframes using these materials. I would appreciate any help from some of you guys who are masters of the art! Are any of you available to co man the stand/ demonstrate using the materials and bring a few models along? It would be great to meet some of you as well and i`m sure we can all learn something from each other as to the different methods used to achieve the same end.
  21. Handlaunch slots under the wing ala the Ripmax warbirds a must!
  22. I have just started flying at the RAFMAA warbird fly ins again after many years absence, they do hand launch slots etc, would be great if we could get a load of these type of models together in the air at one of those, they usually fly off one of the wartime bases at their events.
