  1. Lovely tribute Tom well done.As an ex RAAF rigger and worked at RAF base Valley on Hawk and the Middle East on Tonkas as a civvy, I have a great respect for the lads who take the fast jets into the blue yonder.Dave

  4. Well gents just reading this thread I,ll be down to webbies to get an RCV 91cd for my winter project of the BT Hurricane, I,m convinced by the positive comments.Cheers  dave
  5. Webbies is my local, 50 miles round trip from liverpool,I support them because they always seem to have everything I need, if not they order it pdq and call me when it arrives and I,m in the fortunate position of working in North Wales so I can pick things up on the way home. One other reason I support my LMS is for the craic with Fred and a few of the lads I meet up with. Long may they stay in business.Just treated myself to an Aurora 9 does everything cept make the tea  Dave
  6. Briliant lads, havent laughed so much for ages, strikes a familiar chord.
  7. 1  DH Beaver   for floats or ski,s2 B N Islander GAF Nomad   All for .40-.60 I/C or electric  something suitable for reatively inexperienced builders to encourage same but appeases the more able  good luck TN
  8. I agree with others on the thread that ,its a crying shame that all those kits in Als, shed just sit there,  at least some of them could be put to good use, even to the point of reproducing them, provided copy right was not infringed.I dont begrudge Al his kits far from it but, I wonder if would consider offering copies of the plans at least, provided they were workable drawings.dave
  9. Greetings , Received my copy yesterday morning, read it from cover to cover as usual, good to  see Peter Lowe back. Tony Nijhuis tips are excellent ,can we have more in the future? and of course Alex Whittaker his photography is second to none. Went to the LMA show at Cosford saw quite a few of people  walking away with arms full of balsa and ply so it looks like a revival of traditional builds, must admit I picked up some more supplies for the coming build season. Liked the new format but where is the wizard of oz , Probably all wrung out after his effort in the Anniversary edition, which by the way brought back many happy memories.  by for now Dave
  10. 1 Steve Webb Models 2 D&B Sport And Scale  3 Dont do ARTF,I build from drawings.  4 Does  Ben Buckle kits  qualify very happy with their sevices
  11. I  read with interest  the many comments posted and my comments are, ARTF  are built to cater for fliers, not builders. Many fliers it would appear, have little knowledge of the stress imposed on an airframe in flight, particularly  G forces It would appear that pre-flight /post flight checks are not carried out , these are essential to ensure structural integrity My advice is to develop an understanding of airframe stuctures, excellent articles by Peter Miller and Alex Whittaker ,and recognise potential poor build practices.Model aircraft are definitely NOT toys they are miniature counterparts of the full size, and need much of the same consideration in regard to safety. dave
