  1. can't access my digital magazine, asks me to log in but doesn't not reconise my log in details is it still being set up or do I need to do something else?

  3. Ok who else has had a email from the caa asking to re new my caa license, this is odd and shows incompetence resulting from unnecessary bureaucoracy..!! I have paid up with the BMFA on renewal!
  4. Hi started with the original teranis then moved on to frsky horus x12s and used a tray for both. The 12s has a lot better build feel about it and I am happy with it. If you go to the open tx site here you will see the current radios supported. so you can see. I always fly with a tray and have made them in the past if a affordable one is not available . As for which radio they are all quite good, but you must consider do you want a colour screen or not ,price and do you want/can see that you need the new functions and lockedin archer (access) offers If i was to by one now I go for a radionmaster T16s then the horus (teranis x9d plus 2019 is still good) As for a tray you can get one that fits your choice from here and don't forget a crossed shoulder strap/harness to go with. As for rx the glider go for G-rx8 with its virio to play with and any of the others 6/8 channel for the power Edited By flight1 on 21/01/2021 23:09:26
  5. don't need to subscribe, can buy one at a time so I might either buy the current printed mag to see or give the digital version a go as I have RCME on a digital subscription which works ok.
  6. In the world of declined model magazines i have just come across this new mag RC Scale International looks very interesting and I might give it a go. It is dedicated EXCLUSIVELY to prop driven scale models and scale gliders of all eras so if your into that it should be good.
  7. Yes there is often confusion between the RF side of things and the software that does all the mixing etc. OpenTX is the operating sytem software that operate over multple platforms(transmitters from different makes etc). on the Rf side in the rc world there are only a few RF chips are used and many manufactures use the same ones. these are designed to transmit/recieve) on the 2.4Ghz band and this is ware the word protocol comes in and this is the firmware comes to play with each manufacturing using its own format of coded data packages to be sent/recieved which contain the info needed for each control. I don't know if you can own a protocol' out right as so much of it's code is in common us, they all just using a coded pin to keep it in 'house'. it's all so complicated
  8. I wasn't directing anything personnel just generalizing, just because a post is just below one's own dosent mean it is directed solely at that post and the person behind it. sorry for any confusion

  10. Well its not hard to find the conformity certificate, the problem with doom/nay sayers they never stop to check facts first and spread false uncertainties to make life harder here is a link to the right page just download and view the right document for your needs HERE click Edited By flight1 on 21/01/2021 11:23:23

  12. Well you can't beat laser cutter for accuracy and ease. Hving said that I've got a scrol saw and I find it hard to track a line, but when I tried a band saw it was a lot better so when funds allow I will get one. good quality blades make a differance and you can stack the wood up to make multibles with all cut matching

Posted by Frank Skilbeck on 17/01/2021 22:24:42: Practical rpm range 2,500 to 18,000 rpm, that should sound good, 18000 rpm on 30cc who's dreaming and it should be under 82db too! Practical rpm range !! 9000 it should be, but it is the torque that tells all

  16. I've started using these. had the red one for a year 1/2 and all good. and will be using electronic switches from now on all have a very small current leakage when off . these types of switches have proved to be very reliable on many devises. When I have in the past look inside the standard mechanicals rc switch i am not surprised that so many have failures, proberly the biggest cause of crashes next to battery failure not charged (the biggest cause is 'dum thumbs' but no one likes to admint to that, do we?)
  17. Well what determines your <250g drone to be a 'toy' under the new regulations because if it is a 'toy' then the only restriction is not to endanger anyboddy etc ??

  22. As for building board i have used plasterboard which is efective and cheap enough to be replace with each model build and as always a strong stable and flat bench for it to be placed on, which a good scrap piece of kitchen worktop of suitable size works well. But I have just bought some magnets and am going to try a metal /magnet one (ferrite channel magnets x40 to start) the guidance i am going to use is from these two sites Here and Here merry Christmas all Edited By flight1 on 24/12/2020 20:35:27
