  1. Posted by Ron Gray on 05/05/2020 17:45:28: For me, when using an Rb-20 I use 2 batteries for the receivers and a separate battery for the ignition, no point messing about imo. Yes that works to and in large planes 3 battries is not an issue, i like my ultra ibecs functions
  2. Posted by Andy Joyce on 05/05/2020 16:22:11: That ultra ibec looks very interesting, did you buy direct from the US or a UK importer? a few times now direct from the USA paid my 20% (once not) no problems. not the cheapest but super quality and reliability and best filtering and voltage regulating going(very reinsuring to use)
  3. Find out what cleaner your plumber has used, because some are stronger than others and have maximum time allowed before it must be flushed out. read the manufactures instructions and go by that . 3 months is far to long in my experience, get it power flushed and refilled with fresh central heating inhibitor/protector
  4. language is an involving thing, one can't be offended by it can one and it's still a gas that explodes when ignited
  5. Posted by Gary Manuel on 04/05/2020 21:45:22: Gas? Do you mean petrol? One is a liquid and the other is ... erm an Americanism. EEr ,,,, it is gas when it goes bang in the cylinder/s and before that it was gasoline, it's a liquid obtained by the fractional distillation of petroleum no gas no bang

Speaking as the parent of a child suffering from OCD (brought on in part by the lockdown) I can tell you that a) it’s an incredibly destructive condition for the individuals and families affected, and b) it has absolutely nothing to do with wanting to align propellers and canopy lines... What is OCD? (NHS UK site) Edited By MattyB on 04/05/2020 22:27:05 Please don't take it personally but there are many forms/levels of ocd and it goes from nothing to clinical diagnostic levels which are noticable to one around a persons affected by it. this covid situation is not easy and many are sufering from this situation. i hope you get support and understanding needed. sometimes we don't step on cracks in the pavement and you stop to think to yourself Why?? and others need help in that reguard . keep strong

  8. give it a first short run with oil content as instructions on the ground in plane to make sure it works then then go fly making sure you baffling is good and it dosent overheat, just don't ring it out keeping max throttle to short bursts, when its run a bit 1 to 2L then tweak with the hi/low settings. if you run it in on a bench you will have to run it in again in plane as operating temps and prop sizes are different
  9. In reply Andy i use rb-20 with two 5 cell nimh Battery packs one x8 pro and xm+ recievers the ignition is fed off a y lead from one of the batteries to a ultra ibec (very good), but i have now pluged this into one of the sevo outputs of the sb-20 as the current draw is less than a high power servo and i want it to draw off both batteries(ceeps it all ballanced), but i have onle one flight like that as covid lockdown. so for you if you got a ultra ibec or equivelent filter I say it's a very good redundancy method. and in the states many fly with one battery feeding both ignition and rx, but with a ultra ibec feeding and isolating the ignition for a few years now with absolutly no issues.
  10. If you particular about your decor conformity this is quite nifty. https://www.facebook.com/florian.schambeck.965/videos/760193964747396/ Edited By flight1 on 04/05/2020 18:48:59 pants can't inbed facebook video so just click link ?/ Edited By flight1 on 04/05/2020 18:49:51
  11. this is one where it is going to be a lot of personnel preferences, to it needs to be a general guide . I belive on powered planes at about >7kg you should think about using dual batteries and if 1/5 warbirds 1/3 bi/ vintage planes dual rx set ups with the redundancy function and when large power servos aree used the rb20 should be considered as if one servo fails you don't want it to bring the plane down. With some of my planes i have a 1/4 scale wwi bi-plane it has two batteries/switches and a x8r rock sollid never any issues (glow asp 1.60 engine) .30% tiger moth rx8r+& xm+ and rb 20with twin 6 cell nimh (petrol engine) , rock solid as well. All my other gliders and glow powered planes(some scale) from .40fs to 1.20fs engines have one battery and x8r/x6r/s6r ,xm types never any issues, except when on one plane one of the whisker ends of on aerial became partly brocken and got lost telemetry during a few flights until I found out the issue. Aerials placement should be considered and they should not flop about ie the ends should be supported in a tube or taped in correct location On having said that with frsky setup if you got a redundency reciever then using a another rx is belt and braces. 12. yes spain is lifting retrictiosn in stages and are playing it by ear so if cases don't increase they keep going, a bit like i said limiting numbers etc, we will see
  13. Well if we are waiting for a vaccine to come don't hold your breath it be two years at least before mass release , so in a few weeks people will need to start going out with sensible measure based on the the personnel risk they are prepared to take, if you want to self isolate then thats each individuals decision here to isolate themselves at home. this flue bug will rear it's ugly head next flue season, that's a guarantee. Spain is starting to let people out now as the economy is going to colapse otherwise there is a balance to be made, but noboddy want's to go before it's time ,but we need to live before that happens. mass public transport/ very large gatherings /planes are the big speader and needs to restricted and watched closely to keep it at bay for now may be we need to startdoing this when we get home https://www.facebook.com/amazingfunnyvids/videos/507292733285339/ Edited By flight1 on 29/04/2020 14:24:12 Edited By flight1 on 29/04/2020 14:24:46
  14. Damned if you do, damned if you don't comes to mind , the pure Unknown speculation of what the right decision will be only time will reveal. well on a cheary note the sun just come out here and the dog knows and is staring at me, so i'm off to clear my head
  15. Well it's the consequences of it's 'all about covid 19', I suspect far more people will die of other non related illness as all the elective and other testing has been put on hold delaying diagnoses and timely treatment. We need to get on, healthy people should be let out to work with certain measures taken, like social distancing we got in the supermarkets now extended to all business/shops , ware masks on all public transport with restrictions of numbers. Go flying if you want to, but keeping social distancing there too. the risk would be low life must and will go on, but i do feel I am getting a bit paranoid about it Edited By flight1 on 29/04/2020 10:23:09
  16. Posted by Robin Colbourne on 27/04/2020 14:49:01: Posted by Bell Ringer on 27/04/2020 14:05:00: The problem there Robin, is that you'd need to cross it out and write a new number on next year. We will be issued a different number each year I think. The sheer lunacy of all this is hard to fathom. Rather than a new and separate registration scheme, why didn't the powers that be simply make membership of one of the national bodies compulsory. Then we'd all be registered anyway. That still won't do anything to stop those flying whom are blissfully ignorant of the existence of the national bodies. Edited By Bell Ringer on 27/04/2020 14:07:41 Bell Ringer, If we just had to write our BMFA numbers on our aircraft, the CAA would struggle to justify how to extract £9.50 from each of us! Seriously though, a lot of modellers already have their BMFA number on competition models, plus models do get bought and sold. A number which is updated each year, maybe, in the CAA's eyes a bit like the car tax discs we had until recently. It is a number unique to the CAA, independent of the BMFA, BARCS, LMA and drone operator organisations numbering, so shouldn't be confused with any numbering they have given you. and the ones that this is ment to stop won't have a number on their drones anyway as they are ignorant of sensibilties required for safe and considerate flying
  17. Postage is a dilemma we all face , very frustrating when you just want one item, gone are the day s when when every one had a local model shop so I try to gather a wants list to make postage more effective. But I look at it this way if I want the item I just add the postage to the cost of the item and thats the price pay or go without . delivery man got bills to pay to Edited By flight1 on 27/04/2020 12:32:09
  18. have you tried hobbyking see this one must check measuments though also if it fits try a slightly higher capacity like one of these and if the connector is not right use the one off the old pack
  19. To answer your question i would start with the Phaeton as you don't have to wait two week to start and the other half will still be able to give you a box on you b day so will be happy
  20. well it is 3.7v sp li-ion but it's most likly a lipo see banggood check measurements there are so many variations one example here If you knoe the make model of helecopter that should help some more
  21. well looks like you are getting there , it's all straight forward and clicks into place once  you have played around with it a bit. opentx is quite a revolution and very versatile indeed. now just need to be unlocked so we can go out and fly Edited By flight1 on 24/04/2020 20:00:07
  22. JW if you have not seen this here is a link to OpenTX manual good to read through and also opentx university too
  23. Its true for some reason that with some ignitions and quite rarely that the x8r locks out for some reason ( dosen't reset without a power cycle) and this did happen to me on 1 model but at the time i didn't know what it was. i have the rx8 receivers in other models(more than 1) and it has been rock solid with never a issue or concern so it is a perfectly safe rx but not in some petrol ignition planes so I now use the pro version as stated to do so on petrol planes.   Edited By flight1 on 22/04/2020 15:46:15
  24. With open tx I use a switch to over ride the throttle to fully close/cut engine, the trim is just used for adjusting the ideal position. First i make the throttle works in correct direction and set throws in servo menu to 80%, then set the mechanical linkage(with stick fully back) to set the carb in roughly idel position, then with the stick full forward set the carb to fully open. when done I go to specialfuctions page and set a override function to close the carb fully via a switch of my choice this over ride can be adjusted by the % needed to close without overriding the servo/linkages with the direction controlled by + or - %. very easy way this and can be done differently too on open tx. I also set voice prompts of engine on /or off so i no what position the chosen switch is in Also i sometimes make up a custom throttle curve to get Linear throttle response in accordance to the stick position. I have just done a quick youtube seach and here is a rought guide on what I am trying to say, it's on a teranis but open is roughly the same on all tX's   Edited By flight1 on 22/04/2020 15:28:22 Edited By flight1 on 22/04/2020 15:33:52
