  1. yep as Seamus say`s, I`ve only got one model memory slot left on my FASST T7C and Ive been eyeing up an 8FG as an upgrade, but I think I`ll hold out a while longer incase they start to make it compatible with these cheaper receivers.
  2. Any chance of you documenting this mod on here as you do it Hellcat, id be very interested as ive got the same engine going in an edge ive nearly completed
  3. The real looney is the person that bought it ! ha ha
  4. have you tried the tracking for it eric, you click the blue number next to the order in your HK account, that tells you when it left china, bearing in mind it has been their holiday season, then if its left there you put that blue number into royal mails track and trace for this leg of its journey
  5. Im using this little one as a bit of a test bed, ive got its bigger brother in the shape of a top flite 60 size mustang im building very slowly, so i want to try my hand at this airbrushing and weathering lark in preparation for that, so ive been having a look around and talking to some lads at the club and thinned humbrol sounds the easiest but im thinking of giving the klass kote paints a try, just a flat coat of aluminium then as the model`s only small ill just draw on some panel lines with a fine marker pen and use a technique i saw on here using grated pencil rubbed in to add a bit of definition to panels etc, Ian "Reg Shaw" `s tip i think it was on here.   My kit wasnt too bad, tho ive changed it a bit to use 2 aileron servos as the torque rods were too big to fit nicely in the trailing edge, the sheet provided for the rear decking was i bit small and the fin / rudder has given me some grief warping with the poly c even tho its had 3 coats of sanding sealer !   It`ll still be a while yet tho, ive had it since weston park last year and its only just at primer stage now lol
  6. Im in the process of finishing the same kit, going for the bluenose moonbeam mcswine scheme, ive already covered mine in poly c and glass cloth so im going for a sprayed finish but ive come across this stuff from america while ive been looking called flite metal, sounds a bit like whats been described above but its in 5 inch wide sections, very thin and light, only something like $40 dollars for funfighter size including application tools
  7. Re Mowermans comment with fluorescent lighting and strobe effect, if your fitting new lighting you can get higher frequency fittings with electronic ballasts that negate this, available from any electrical supplier, im pretty sure most fittings come with these ballasts these days anyway as theyre more efficient than the magnetic ballasts of old
  8. 9. Dennis i provided all the information for you the other day on this thread you started ?
  10. Ive got letters before my name....... Mr
  11. my wot 4 foam e is great...............       now ive replaced all 4 servo`s, esc, motor and taped all the hinges
  12. I used 1 eneloop 4 cell pack in a kyosho spitfire 50 while setting it all up, operating everything retracts, flaps, twin aileron servo`s etc was testing it all for at least half an hour cycling everything back and forth checking for snags etc and no problems what so ever, and i like mark use them in lots of models
  13. neither lol its just the power that circuit would use to operate, thrown at it was just a figure of speach, Im showing the most basic of basic there, no esc, no load etc its just to point out the physical relationship between volts and amps, the more cells in series you have (the s in 3s, 4s etc) the higher the voltage, hence higher the amps (and therefore watts) for a given resistance
  14. a 2200mAh 3s is a squeeze in a wot 4 foam e so an 8 or 10s wouldnt fit lol, in reality youd probly just get a lot of smoke and a black crispy thing where your esc/motor etc used to be, motors have a max wattage (volts x amps) so in its most basic theory if you suddenly tripple the amount of volts (9s pack) because the resistance of the motor windings is constant you also tripple the amps.   Current in amps ( I ) is equal to volts ( V ) divided by resistance ( R ) (ohms law) so say windings are 100 ohms ( R ), 11.1 V for 3s. 11.1 / 100 = 0.111 A now tripple the voltage 33.3 / 100=0.333A.   so where your motor was happy on 3s 11.1V x 0.111A = 1.2321 Watts now with a 9s its got 33.3V x 0.333A = 11.0889 Watts thrown at it and its not a happy bunny     Edited By Codename-John on 30/01/2012 15:25:47 Edited By Codename-John on 30/01/2012 15:26:39
  15. Oh my days judging by all you golden oldies i must be one of the youngest on the forum at 30 ! ha ha I smash out some Drum and Bass, makes me go faster, currently doing a little bit of my cambrian p-51 to the Fabio and Grooverider show from 2-4 this morning on radio 1 [ bit of I Player business ), then theres Bailey and Crissy Criss on 1xtra for after
  16. it doesnt mention dual rates in the manual but it sounds a good starting point to me, tho i didnt bother, one thing ill mention with mine tho its balanced as above and behaves superbly in the air but needs quite a bit of up trim to fly level
  17. another thumbs up for gens ace packs too ( lower priced in giantcod than link above tho  ,  ive currently got 5, 3x 1800mAh 3s for my 2 edf`s and 2x 2200mAh 3s for the wot foam e, they all outlast the couple of turnigy packs i had previouslyEdited By Codename-John on 29/01/2012 22:42:42
  18. the more mAh the packs capacity the longer duration you will achive, if its only duration you want then fit the biggest capacity you can physically fit in the plane, remembering to adjust CoG accordingly, 5s and 3s are higher and lower voltage respectively, your power output and max rpm of your motor would be less with 3s, less volts for kv ( revs per volt ), opposite for 5s but you would probaly need to uprate the esc for the higher power
  19. IC version   throws elevator - 9-15 mm each way rudder 45mm each way ailerons 6-9mm each way CoG 82mm from the leading edge at the root
  20. I think you can use almost any modernish futaba tx, you can use 2.4 to 35 with futaba also as its not transmitting a signal from the buddied tx only the master
  21. just been for a look and you are right with 9000, if its fried on the 2nd flight perhaps speak to HK about a replacement motor, fit a bigger esc and use a 3s battery insted, would give enough extra oomph
  22. are you sure 9000 kv is correct, especially for an outrunner ive never seen one so high, 4 max are quite good ive got their recommended purple power setup in my Alfa F86 and its been solid for 12 months so far
  23. if i remember right theres 3 more or less the same, ones a tricycle under cart, the super is tail dragger
  24. I can recommend Black horse`s super air, easy to put together and it flies lovely, like a trainer on low rates but a great sport model if you wang it around, the only thing that lets it down is the covering material, it looks good but its quite brittle and can suffer hanger rash easily, but mine gave me lots more confidence to try out manuvers etc cos for £65 for the kit and spares available seperate it aint gonna break the bank if ya put it in
