  1. They're cheaper if you break them
  2. Two bladed props are more efficent in models. They leave cleaner airflow for the next blade to pass through, they allow the use of larger diameter props without excessively loading the engine / /motor...   There'll be many more reasons.
  3. Spectra matt clear works. Fuelproof too.
  4. Unless you want the Iraqi scheme....
  5. Extra Dark Sea Grey on top and Linen on the lower and under sides is the usual.   These guys do the range of excellent Warbirds colours.   Paint   The fuel is fuel proof and can be brushed or sprayed on.
  6. Have they actually banned it, or is it a ban on flying for public display?
  7. Well, today also marks my last day in uniform, as after 24 years I have decided to move on and leave the RAF. Couldn't have picked a more apt day really I suppose.
  8. Posted by Ultymate on 12/09/2010 17:16:29: I bet they won't ban bull fighting  They are giving it some serious thought at the moment. The bull incident happened the same week the govt inquiry into the future of bull fighting convened.
  9. Posted by Al Dee on 11/09/2010 13:43:54: ........ almost destroyed with probably the worst wind since 1963.     Blimey, what'd you eat?
  10. Of course, I see that now. Had me wondering for ages though, I thought they were a suppressor of some sort.
  11. Whats the silver thing in the nacelle? I see the esc and the motor.
  12. Bad luck mate. just remember the good times you had together!
  13. True, I will also try airbrushing the paint this time.
  14. No, it will be a longer project this time, as my move to Spain and a new job will be my main priority now . I think I'll go Iraqi again though.
  15. All good points. I am tempted to try the leccy option again.   As for the u/c, the original i/c version had an air system, but the IAF vesion had the stock setup for the expediency of it all.   Weight is clearly going to be an issue, so I am wondering about the covering   a) Glasscloth and resin b) Brown paper and PVA c) Poly C and lightweight glass cloth.   Thoughts?Edited By Shaun Chant on 27/08/2010 19:58:26
  16. Well, checked my new model over. It is a bit of a heap but structurally sound. I am contemplating sheeting the wing and fibre glassing the whole thing. That way I won't have to worry about the covering bubbling up every time it sees daylight.   Thoughts?   Should I go i/c or try again with the leccy stuff?
  17. Cheers chaps, I haven't seen it yet but I'll keep you posted.
  18. My wife just phoned me. She collected a second hand Seagull Sea Fury today!   Third time lucky?
  19. Thick ply plate which fits flush with the skin and is at least 10mm wider than the retract installation, and corner dowels which pass through it into the foam even glued to the top skin.   Anything less will come off every landing.
  20. I use 3.5mm...... a perfect compromise.
  21. Welll....... if  buy it I might try the leccy mods again as I have them, but a 120 fs or even the 35cc petrol I have on the bench might be a player.
  22. Cowl looks nice chaps. Don't launch off making wings yet as I have already had the offer of one airframe, TBC.
