  1. Pete, I'm running win 8.1 and it was a full upgrade to Win 10. I cancelled it. It was much more than a simple upgrade to an existing OS. I use my PC for app development running database, web & application servers, I can't afford to have a new operating system, that's not been tested on a VM first. Naughty. If you just use your PC for email & web browsing then Win 10 is a great free upgrade. Andy
  2. Its all down to your update settings - I had the same thing I saw a new notification telling me my Windows would be upgraded on the 12 March - Soon cancelled it. Naughty of them, but its s free upgrade. Andy
  3. I use both a PC and a MAC, Mac wins. Sorry. Andy
  4. At one of last years shows - might have been the Nats or LMA Cosford, there was a new flight sim being demo'd. Aimed primarily at the heli pilot with new physics. Anyone remember what it was called? Andy
  5. Thanks BEB, but in my defense the title of the news item is Club position on multirotors, which should give context to the piece, and there is noting new under the sun, the text you are referring to comes straight from the BMFA website, so maybe it them you need to correct Andy
  6. We took the decision last year to allow multi rotor flying, and here is the notice we put out on the subject. In spite of the nay sayers thinking we would be over run with 'Drone' flyers our membership actually dropped this year. My answer was to buy one and have a go. Andy
  7. Thanks Denis Tried it before, but no harm in trying again. and it logged me out again. Only seems an issue in Chrome, so might have to use IE to see if it helps. Andy
  8. This is still happening for me - been quiet for a ages because if it, just logged in to vote on poll, 5 mins later I have to log in again. It cant just be me surely/ Andy
  9. The Sea Dart build and Gee Bee next to it and others are regularly documented on Phil's Facebook page. Andy
  10. Hi I had this pointed out to me as I'm known to dabble,Wing Helper. Has anyone played with it yet? Seems intuitive and reasonably priced, I'll report back when I've had a play. Andy PS for Linux, OSX & WIndows. Someones been busy. Edited By Andy Green on 02/02/2016 15:02:39
  11. Take a look at my Super 60 build, aileron wing, lowered dihedral & wing bolts. Andy
  12. Hi The Malvern Soaring Association are the guys to talk to. RC flying is restricted to Table Hill down one end. Also no vehicle access, its a long walk to the top. Andy Edited By Andy Green on 28/01/2016 14:53:52
  13. There is a dodge I have used in the past, when I have drilled the hole in the wrong place. what happened was the hole got too big after several attempts to get it right, what I ended up doing was to use a low expanding polyurethane (Gorilla) glue, with a small amount in the hole just clamp everything in the correct place, until dry. It worked so well, I deliberately do it now for trickier installations. Only works with Hinge Points though. Andy
  14. One other thing - I have the U channel (Mode) on a 3 pos switch, in the monitor I can see thet it goes from -1000, 0, 1000. In the 0 position I'm in Alt mode, but the -1000 & 1000 are both failsafe. How do I get GPS Mode. Andy
  15. Hi Tim All stock DJI bits and S-bus connection, with a Fry Sky TFR 8 SB Rx Have noticed something strange, looks like its momentarily going into failsafe. If I have it connected to the MAC (can't install drivers on PC) the monitor showing the mode jumps to failsafe and the LED on the RX flashed red. So doesn't look like a Naza issue. Andy
  16. I've built a couple, take a look at my build blogs, it will give you some idea of what you are letting yourself it for. Andy
  17. Anytime after April . Not really at this time of year, no club nights planned either. Happy to arrange a time if you want to see the site(s). Andy
  18. Following on from a previous thread from last year, I have committed and bought a DJI F450 with Naza V2 controller from quadcoptors.co.uk. First problem I had was I couldn't install the Windows drivers, and was told by their support guy to try a MAC. Fortunately I was able to do this, got everything connected up, and have had a few successful flights. But.... What is happening is the throttle blips, only for a fraction of a second on all four motors, and the quad drops a few inches. I have asked the support guy again but the only info he gave me was the Gains need adjusting. I have asked if there are any std setups I could have to program mine with, but have not heard back (I have asked twice). Does anyone have one of these with a working setup they can share? or any other reason why the motors blip. Andy
  19. Worcester Model Aero Club are looking for new members. Existing pilots or beginners are welcome. Like (I believe) many clubs at this time, we've had a small reduction in numbers, probably due to the negative effect of the poor summers lately and the financial climate, meaning that we can accommodate some new members. We have two sites one near Rushwick and the other near Hanbury, some flying restrictions apply, full details are on the website. We fly fixed wing as well as some rotary aircraft, in a friendly atmosphere, across our two sites, but we aren't big on helis although a few members do fly them so if they are your primary interest I'm afraid we may not really be the club for you. The subs run from Jan 1st to Dec 31st each year and are £67 for membership plus the £33 BMFA fees. (We are an affiliated club so you have to be a member of the BMFA). Our website is www.worcestermodelaeroclub.co.uk If you're interested email or PM me with any questions.
  20. I paid $10 for a PDF of the plan and £15 to have it printed here in the UK. A
  21. Yes he did, I think he was the designer of the Four Star, and the is the bigger brother with some of the issues ironed out, His history can be read here, where it mentions his time at SIG. Andy
  22. This is what I've been busy on the past few months, a Bruce Tharpe Engineering plan for a large Four Square called a Venture 60. Full build on my website as usual. Here it is ready for covering: Andy
  23. Here's the servo (9g) mount on my Limbo dancer: Have used this method several times all without issue. (So far) Andy Edited By Andy Green on 14/01/2016 16:48:38
  24. Post to follow along Martyn, but to be honest I'm fed up with having to log in every time to post something, this is why I'm quiet these days. I have raised this before but its never been sorted. Good luck to all builders. Andy
