  1. Yep, he is quite active on another forum.
  2. Be tough, be thrawn. One of the "good old boys" at Aviemore had problems and had to quit. His good lady joined him. You would not believe that thier colour was not really yellow/light brown and the extra forty £ a day is usefull too he says.
  3. Canopy glue. For other comment, Perhaps "Gorilla" glue. seen this in garden shops too, seems much like Zapa-dap-a-goo
  4. Swithering about replacing my ten year old loptop. So the question I need the answer for. Ccan I put Phoenix on my main 'puter AND the laptop without paying extra?
  5. I have seen somewhere, where a chap added some foam built back to proper "step" position to make one into a flying boat rather than floatplane, added some wing floats for water ballance. Good flyer too. Alisdair Sutherland at the Garnock Valley Flying club website has details of how to design and build your own Floats.
  6. Bug er, I hope I don't need to start making a runway from scratch when we come to say hello later on in the year. Just not good after all the hype we got about the estate. Now that lot was just to help make you feel better as you have not been doing the grumpy bit. Written by, Pesimistic Optimist No 1
  7. Nope, I have not forgoten the scribe as no doubt he will be pleased to know just somehow I seem to be busy yet not getting much done. I hope the new season is not all being spent gardening, leaving time for gaining flying skills if not in gaining new models. Now the Waterplane season has started as well as all the land based Flyins and Shows we might get some comments from that aspect? Strange, the PC won't do carraige return for a new paragragh, or p'raps it is a quirk elsewhere. See you somewhere this year folks, possibly.
  8. Myron and Chrissy, sorry to hear of more tribulations. Like all the rest of the guys say, you have my best wishes.
  9. I am assured that the application of "Shrinking Dope" to help the tautness is very affective.
  10. Well I did with my models and they might make me broke so, Flytilbroke Elsewhere and when I was known as CASHLINE, and some were not so polite and tried to copycat.
  11. Time to highlight MACHRIHANISH FUN FLY MAY 2012. Full confirmation was delayed due to the ongoing Site "Community Buyout". All sizes and types of flying models catered for, from Chuckies to PULSE JETS and we can fly in any wind direction as we have a four hundred yard square of tar surface to play on. We have use of a building for the weekend, although we cannot guarantee mains electricity. It is also advisable to bring in your own Fresh Water. I shall try to bring plenty in as well as a gas cooker and kettle. We cannot camp on site, there is planty of accomodation and camping nearby though. Friday 4th access/flying from 5PM, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th flying from 10AM till whenever as no official evening close time. Only pre-registered access is allowed altough registration is painless, contact Bryan Passey as soon as possible. Tel: 01546602918 E-mail> [email protected]
  12. I agree the SC46. I recently got a SC52 for a Seamaster I am refurbishing. The SC came with the rear needle components too.
  13. Never a smile, yet he looked like he enjoyed the flight. My surface texture is heading that way too.
  14. Posted by Peter Miller on 30/03/2012 11:28:22: By the way. Does anyone know if diesel fuel deteriorates over time if kept in an approved plastic container. I have some which is years old and wondered if it was still OK. Not a bubble car. Its an AIXAM 500. Cute little thing Peter. I sort of remember that Diesel can go off with age, although I have used some which was at least five years in an old comercial single cylinder bench/table saw. I suggest you use some at a time topped off with fresh stuff.
  15. Pure greed! Four times more than I get as a pensioner, a heck of a lot more than very good Nurses working full shifts, much more than full shift workers in the local "heavy industry". In fact more than twice as much as most wage earners in the UK. I have no sympathy for thier argument at all. A Son and a Daughter would love to be getting half of what they get.
  16. Electic powered flying wing,,, Zagi style? No runway required and is TOUGH
  17. Save time looking for it, channel4 at 8pm.
  18. I can think back. The Angling Magazines lauding the opening of Massive DRAINS over a heck of a lot of England. They certainly lowered the the amount of retained water naturally being absorbed by the ground. They also reduced the water ON the ground. Block the Drains and help save the scarce rainfall from heading straight to the sea.
  19. Theres a really nice target for later Stephen. Jim Carss that looks good, and I plan to try the shrinking dope/Solartex on a repairable Nothstar I was given. Keep this up Stephen and you will be one of the "Stars" of the Forum
  20. I have just passed the Orsen Wells Famous numbers. Not trying to race to the double Millenium number..... of POSTS
  21. Hello again, well maybe, I can't remember that far back.
  22. I have found Profilm to be pretty good, solarfilm ok for smaller models. Solartex unpainted type I enjoyed the most, better for larger models or when using Diesel engines, better at awkward corners like wing tips. Some of the guys advised me that Shrinking dope used after normal shrinking of Solartex tightens and hardens the surface even better. Not tried this yet though. The Pre-painted Solartex needs care or the paint surface gets damaged when using the covering Iron.
  23. Hi Catch21, If you are only recently having success at crashing slope soarers, then the Heli is perhaps overdue Have fun now and mind and come back here.
  24. Olympics. About as much benefit to the UK as the Milenium Dome was, and a serious extractor of funds from elsewhere in the UK. The best guess perhaps as to the benefit of restricting Model Flyers of any type,,, The Security Forces will have less entertainment to watch so will pay more attention to what they are supposed to be doing.
