  1. Posted by Percy Verance on 25/06/2016 12:52:02: Apologies for the BMW skit Frank, but I was once quite openly insulted by a BMW dealer many moons ago. I'd called into this particular dealer to look at a car (not a BMW) which had been traded in. As soon as I set foot inside the showroom door, the salesman approached me and asked "how much can you afford?" Without uttering a word I turned on my heels and left........ Similar thing happened to my late father. He was looking to buy a new BMW, and spent ages wandering around the showroom before anyone even looked in his direction. Eventually a guy who really looked like he wanted to be somewhere else sauntered up and said "are you looking for anything in particular". Well dad was apparently so disgusted by being ignored for so long that his reply was.......... "As a matter of fact my company was interested in purchasing 6 models for staff cars, but as I've been ignored for so long here I'll recommend we go elsewhere!.", and promptly walked out.
  2. I got an email just over a week ago advertising the Hobbyking Live event at Rougham on 2nd-3rd July, with a link to a registration page for anyone who wants to attend. I thought I'd like to try it and registered, but since then I've heard nothing!. I even registered a second time, and still nothing! I've made sure their replies have not gone to my spam folder, and they're not there. Just wondering, has anyone been able to register, and actually get a reply? Steve
  3. Thankyou Beth, what a pleasant surprise! I think the last time I won anything I was still at school, and that was a looooong! time ago. Steve. Ooh! I just noticed....500 posts, what a coincidence!    Edited By Essjay on 13/06/2016 12:04:28
  4. Just an observation, and I may be talking complete botox, but when you were gliding (motor off) everything seemed to settle down. It only seemed to dive when power was applied. Could it be that you need a little more 'downthrust' on the motor, bearing in mind that would mean shimming the 'lower' mounting screws as it's a pusher. Just a suggestion, and as I say I may be talking rubbish. Steve
  5. Well I was going to drive the 1 1/2 hours to the show today, but woke early this morning with a particularly dodgy tum!, so decided not to. Sounds very much like I didn't miss a lot. Good to hear that the show has got a reprieve for next year, but if this years content (by the reports) is anything to go by, will next year be any better?
  6. Also nice to see Ali's lost none of his flying skill
  7. The man in the shop told me, if I wanted to be a "gliderist", I needed to bite down very hard on this and the urge would go away, but it doesn't seem to be working. Edited By Essjay on 01/06/2016 09:12:35
  8. If you're using a metal box to store lipos, it might be a good idea to put the the lipos in a plastic container INSIDE the metal box, or cover the inside of the metal box with foam or plastic to prevent the batteries from shorting against the metal surface. It's very unlikely that they would short out, but it does give that extra piece of mind.
  9. Excellent flying and sound. I think I'm right in saying this is being flown and was built by the very talented John Ranson. I think I'm also right in saying he built a very nice Hornet, again with the sound system, a few years ago. Steve Edited By Essjay on 13/05/2016 16:31:00
  10. For anyone doubting the authenticity of this acheivement, here is confirmation from the Guinness World Records own website. **LINK**

  12. An interesting episode tonight for all us ex BT'ers. He's reassembling a 1957 Bakelite telephone. I suppose to everyone else this'll be like watching grass grow Steve
  13. Posted by Rich2 on 04/04/2016 11:55:00: Strange, but glad you sorted it. I tried loggin in to mine to help you, but I' on an iPad and for some reason PayPal does not like iPads! Have you got the extra layer of protection where you receive a text with a code that you need to enter? Not sure what you mean Rich, I use my ipad all the time with my PayPal account with no problems. Steve

  16. Posted by Bob Cotsford on 25/03/2016 21:53:12: One more time - MotoGP is shown on ITV4. OK, not live but it is free. Which is why I said LIVE! (One more time) Edited By Essjay on 25/03/2016 22:58:12
  17. Posted by Craig Thomas on 25/03/2016 21:12:54: Instead of F1., have a look at MOTO GP. it's the motorbike equivalent to F1. Far more exciting in my view. 👍 And still only available live on pay TV (BT Sport)
  18. Next time I call 'landing', it might be prudent to duck!
  19. Guys, are you sure this is where the lipo goes?
  20. George learns the hard way that he's going to need a very small stool to milk this seagull !!!
  21. For those interested in a new rotary tool I've just seen this in the latest Maplins email advert. Looks pretty good value as you get an accessory kit as well. I have a Dremel 300 and put side by side you'd be hard pushed to tell them apart. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/170w-variable-speed-rotary-tool-with-lcd-and-219-piece-accessory-set-n17qn?cmpid=email:weeklyemail:22032016:N17QN&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=17P01-03 I've just noticed that the deal also includes a 'pen grip" flexi-shaft as well. Even better value  Edited By Essjay on 21/03/2016 11:19:23
  22. Signed. Ex ATC 1113 Squadron. Flew gliders at 613 Squadron RAF Halton in the late 60's early 70's. Incidentally the link to the petition doesn't appear on my iPad. Had to use my PC. Steve
  23. Can't stand the guy unfortunately, however did watch the start on iPlayer, and like Martin, I reckon it's an Antonov. Steve (not Backshall)
  24. That's a lot of aircraft for a very good price, someone will get a bargain. I have one still in the box, same colour, same motor, wingbags and extra carbon bits. you've spurred me on to finally get it in the air. Steve
