  1. There is an excellent free program available called "Classic Shell" which allows you to customise in many ways your new Windows 10 installation to look like Windows 7. It really is quite extensive and I can highly recommend trying it. You can find it here: **LINK**
  2. I was having accuracy problems with the website I linked to above, and since found a far more accurate site. **LINK**
  3. Hi Erfolg, use this website to find the lat and long. Just place the curser on the map and read off the values. **LINK**
  4. Area 51, the drone in the offending ad is clearly not the Aldi one you describe, but a far larger dji type, and certainly something I would not attempt to fly indoors, and I do fly a Blade 350 (sensibly and outside I must add). I must admit I'm quite surprised at the differing opinions suggested in the thread, just goes to show that the whole "drone" thing has opened up a can of worms. I used the word 'outraged' in the OP, which may have been a tad over the top, in hindsight I should perhaps have said 'concerned'. I don't necessarily agree that we're being over sensitive these days, just ask the mother whose toddler lost the site of one eye when a neighbour was 'demonstrating' his quad in their garden. And this was outside and not in the confines of a small bedroom. Still, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who seems 'concerned'. Edited By Essjay on 16/12/2015 12:31:32
  5. I was watching the TV this evening and came accross an advert for "Bold" washing powder backed by Aldi supermarket which showed a youngster flying a large 'dji sized' drone in the confines of a small bedroom. Surely anyone in their right mind must realise this is a stupid thing to do. It maybe that the ad was made using cgi, and wasn't real, but it still gives the impression that it's ok to do it. In the light of recent reports and the fact that there will be an awful lot of these given as presents this Christmas, I felt outraged enough to make a complaint using the system on the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) website. If you've seen this ad then please consider complaining as well. We all know there are irresponsible fliers out there, but these ads are just making things worse.
  6. Have a look at Beesley Tools, they have a good stock of Proxxon tools and accessories including jigsaw blades. **LINK**
  7. Dave, I think you'll find Ian was commenting on the guy flying his helicopter indoors, NOT the guy flying the drone which blinded the poor little boy.
  8. I dont understand why these so-called "concept" videos use quads with exposed props!. Surely a lot of the safety concerns could be satisfied by purely encasing/shrouding the props. I don't see it affecting the flight characteristics in any way, but I could be wrong.
  9. Like Peter, I too have a Fuji HS-10 and a Canon DSLR. I totally agree about the flying shots, the Canon is far better than the Fuji, however for static/non action shots, the ease of use and versatility of the Fuji is second to none. Buy both for the best of all eventualities! Steve
  10. Ooh! I wonder if we'll learn how to make an fpv quad from an old washing up liquid bottle and sellotape?
  11. Now, if it had been a SMARTFIRE.............,
  12. Dave, you are correct, it's 10mW for 2.4GHz, and 25mW for 5.8GHz. Still way below the 200mW being recommended.
  13. The legal limit on 5.8GHz is only 10mW, 200mW would be a 2000% increase. Just a bit more than slightly.
  14. I don't want to put a spoke in the wheel in this thread, but if I'd suggested making a pirate copy of some flight sim software, the the mods would have been all overe me like a rash. Why is it then that when the use of illegal 200mW transmitters are suggested ( the legal limit is 25mW), everyone turns a blind eye?
  15. I've been using this sim for a couple of years now, and for me it really is the cream of the crop. I also use Phoenix which is also very good, and a little easier on the pocket. One thing to note with RC7 is that to benefit from all of the 'bells and whistles' you will need a fairly high spec PC, however you will still get a very good sim with a lower spec machine. Steve
  16. Sorry to bring this up again, but I've been downloding the latest mag on my ipad air2, and it's just reached 92% after 12 hours, and that's after re-downloading the app and restoring purchses. Any news on a fix yet?

I have a 1/4" drive ratchet set that includes a small universal joint. If you could find one it might just fit. Steve

    Windows 10

I'm suffering from the same problem. I have the screen set to switch off after an hour, and sometimes it works, but more often than not it doesn't. @RCPlaneflier. I know it's a bit late now, but this is a well documented Windows 10 problem (usually with Outlook), a quick google would have shown that it is a relatively simple fix. 19. Check out my Album for pictures of what John Olsen describes above.
  20. Posted by willhappy on 26/10/2015 17:05:15: hi dave so a kite with a cam on it would still be an aerial survellance vehicle so you would still need a bnuc-s qualification will Exactly!........getting silly now isn't it?
  21. Dave, apologies for misconstruing your post.I must learn to slow down and not speed read posts. Having re-read your post I can see how I should have read it in the first place. Steve
  22. Dave, I haven't belonged to a club for a couple of years now since my old club lost it's flying site. I'm afraid I take umbrage at your sweeping statement that 99% of all non club members are flouting the law. I'm sure there are many non-club members such as myself who fly perfectly responsibly in local parks/open spaces. I am a BMFA member and am insured, and only fly small electric models, including quads. Yes, I'm sure there are a few who may be flying irresponsibly, but I fear your estimate of 99% is grossly over exaggerated. Steve
  23. You're quite right John. Maybe I should have realised that some people with a limited knowledge of the workings would blindly follow the instructions. I apologise for not taking that into account. Steve
  24. Pat, all of the negative comments are about one suggestion, namely disabling user account control. I admit that's probably one that I'd leave out, but everything else makes sense to me. Steve
