I have never been convinced by the advice that the cooling air outlet should be bigger than the inlet for that is usually not the case on full size aircraft and in my view is unnecessary in model aircraft, i.c. or electric. We modellers usually take the view that the cooling air must be forced through the engine compartment whilst the full size practice seems to be to ensure it is sucked out. Sucking out ensures that it is replaced by cool air. Consider that all that happens when the cooling air heats up and expands a little is that it is accelerated, with the correct outlet design this will help the sucking effect. The important requirement is that the cooling air is directed through/around the motor and any other component that required cooling. The air path should be constructed with whatever baffles are required to ensure that the air takes the correct path. Check what Mick Reeves wrote on the subject and Neil Tidy on baffling and then design your cooling airpath.

A variation on the theme. I have a friend who is apparently stranded in a far off land after apparently having been robbed of all his possessions who, in spite of suffering such a trauma, has managed to remember my email address, and has used it to ask for an immediate transfer of £2550 to his new bank account in said far off land. Sad that because I never did like him very much.

Funny that, I thought it the best issue for a long time and it almost persuaded me to renew my subscription.

Midday sunlight is closer to 6500K in England at least. Lighting hues brought about by shhoting under other lighting can be easily be corrected by the most basic of photomanipulation software that probably came with your digital camera.

The motor is fixed to the bracket at its front so the shorter length is not critical.

Too small, the ARFT model is a lump and needs one to drag it around. 70 FS stroke minimum.

I saw quite a lot of Ken flying this model, about twenty years ago I think, and he did well with it.

I agree with Vin, I have just taken delivery of an order and appreciated the prompt delivery but my order could have been four times the value had this supplier carried more of the listed items in stock.

Fitting a stiffer undercarriage will simply move the landing shock loads to another part of the airframe. Undercarriage bending is part of the learning process.

I use short lengths of soft drinks straws to hold the bare ends in the correct positions.

Many of us do use on-board glow systems, especially for larger models but increasingly these are being powered by petrol or electric.

The importers of OS engines recommend Model Technics Formula Irvine fuel which is what I have always used in mine. You will find several threads on this site discussing Prosynth which reflect the mixed feelings that exist about it.

Five sizes to be exact: 32", 52", 63", 72", and 88" wingspans. Modellers more used to metric measurements please see my earlier posts for the metric equivalents. Given the average age of modellers I doubt your statement, this could be a good subject for a poll.

The advantage of buying separate chargers is that you have a choice of those that operate on 240v as well as 12v and they are a lot cheaper to throw away when they breakdown as I have recently discovered.

Another vote for Profilm, I find it easier to use than Solarfilm as it can be lifted and repositioned without leaving clear holes; doesn't tear easily and the colours are much denser so even the white is not translucent. There are many more colours to choose from too and it is very tough. The one drawback, apart from the cost, is that it blunts scalpel blades very quickly, so you need plenty of those to hand. I have no experience of the G.S. alternative I shall have to try a sample.
